Hiding In Your Pencil Case

Underneath your hand I felt a warm embrace.

Not too strong and meaningful all the same.

Something about your warmth made me smile.

Even though the tragic tales you kept in a file.

You still held me close and never let me out of sight.

With me we went to other realms even in fright.

So pain tried to reach, but I never fell.

Together we formed an unbreakable shell.

So when you said "No one was there, no one had ever cared."

You snapped my heart, as your best friend.

A pencil, I may be, but still you were always with me.
