This was an English project where I had to write a poem in iambic pentameter about self discovery (to all you teachers out there that is a horrible assignment, by the way). Its no where near my favorite work but I thought I'd post it anyway. I'll post a line-by-line explanation later since its meaning is pretty cryptic.

Mirror of truth with reflection pure does not distort the light
Golden trim, honesty its sheen, adorns the glass with rigidity
Love, the elixir of life, its polish uncontested
Shine its specialty, inviter of bitter betrayal
Desire for sight is tempered by terror of fright
Luminous innocence the stick doth call
Corruption will dilute the light and grant mortals phantoms
Choose, light or shadow, realize that final is the outcome
Kindness misplaced is impossible to regain
Broken mirror from anger made did shatter
Glass ocean with waters red is opposed with souls of iron
Seven lengths for equal faults, vehemence doth deliver
Clouded water reflects a tarnished sight
To pursue light in shadows always concludes with naught
