Butterflies
A flutter dances around inside me
I try not to laugh as I shake your hand
We've never met before
So where did these butterflies come from?
Am I imagining things?
Or did I see you hesitate too
You've got the same look I do
Do you have these butterflies too?
We talk for a moment or two or three
But it appears time has come and gone
I turn to leave ignoring the ache
Of the protesting butterflies
I normally don't do this
But it really isn't me
It's the butterflies asking
Do you want to get coffee sometime?
