He shrugs. "Why not? The more the merrier." He has a sideways, don't-screw-with-me grin. You feel slightly threatened but decide to go with it. "I'm heading south. More open areas and better cropland." The day ends quickly and you almost can't believe how quickly things changed. You agree to take shifts until daybreak.
The night passes uneventfully. There are almost no zombies away from 'civilization.' As you continue heading south, you come to a slightly wide river. It seems calm, but the middle is a dark, muddy color that gives no indication of how deep it is.
