"Will... Willow... Will..."

"Hm... Shut up, Jace..."

My head was killing me. That was the first thing I noticed. Then, I noticed that there was an oddly clean, medicinal smell surrounding me.

Must be a hospital.

"Hey, don't tell me to shut up! I've been sitting here for the past five hours waiting for you to wake up Mr. 'Oh, I'm fine'! You scared the shit out of me, Willow! God damn."

It was hard to open my eyes, and I winced at the bright light when I finally managed to crack one open. I could feel something warm covering my hand, assuming it was Jace's as he continued on with his rant.

"... And then the nurse was all like 'Oh, I'm sorry sir, family members only', family members only my ass, I might as well be considered family, but oh no, I was stuck in the waiting room wh-"

"Jace, shut up please. You're giving me a headache."

He glared back slightly, squeezing my hand with his but thankfully remaining silent as some voices from the hallway grew louder.

"... And we were a little worried about the EKG, his heart rate seems to be all over the place. We're considering putting him on- Oh, Willow, you're awake."

I slowly turned my head toward the voice, seeing my mom and a taller man with a lab coat, and a name tag that read 'BANZ'. Mom came over and smiled sadly, brushing some hair from my forehead. "Hey honey, how do you feel?"

"Tired. And I have a headache." I murmured. She nodded slightly, looking over to the doctor.

"That's expected. I'm Jason Banz, your doctor. You've been here since last night. Know why?"

"Um... I passed out?"

"Well, yes," Banz replied with a small smile, looking down to the clipboard in his hands, "But do you know why you passed out?"

I paused, shaking my head slowly. He nodded, hesitating before continuing.

"We believe you have something called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. It's a heart condition, that includes enlarged areas of the heart and arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats. You passed out because you had an episode."

… A heart condition?

"So what does all that mean?" Jace asked, frowning slightly. Banz looked over at him, sighing quietly.

"It means that Willow will have to be put on medication and monitored frequently. As far as I've seen, he seems to be at high risk for the Cardiomyopathy to turn into Congestive Heart Failure."

Mom gasped quietly beside me, and Jace's frown turned into a surprised expression, though he remained silent. Banz looked between the three of us before looking back down to the clipboard.

"You can leave whenever you like, and I'll be back in a few minutes with the medication you'll be taking, as well as some papers to explain more about your condition. We'll also need to schedule some appointments once every month." he explained, pausing before leaving the room again.

Mom sighed quietly, looking over at me and rubbing my shoulder. "I guess I'll let you get dressed." she mumbled. I nodded back, watching her leave the room and close the door behind her. Then, I looked over to Jace, noticing that he still sat with the same surprised expression on his face. He didn't move until I put my hand on his arm.

His head jerked up, and he stared at me for a minute before raising his eyebrows. "... Well... Hm." he mumbled. I felt myself smile slightly before I glanced behind Jace to a medical cart, seeing a bag of my clothes on it. I really hated hospital gowns.

Jace noticed me looking past him, turning toward the cart as well before getting up and walking over to grab the bag. He walked back over, handing it to me, and when I thought he was about to sit down again, he did the exact opposite.

He reached over, wrapping his arms around me and hugging me to his chest tightly, kissing the top of my head. I let him go for a minute, actually rather enjoying the closeness before clearing my throat quietly. "Uh, Jace... I can't breathe."

He hummed quietly, waiting a minute before letting go and clearing his throat awkwardly. "Sorry." he murmured. I watched him for a second, shaking my head and smiling. He didn't reply, instead sitting back down in his chair by my bed and folding his hands together in his lap. He had his sleeves rolled up, making it easy to see the small butterfly tattoo on his right wrist that covered a few of his scars.

While I was perfectly content with just sitting and watching Jace, I figured I should probably get dressed...

Sighing quietly, I stood up off the bed, taking the gown off and getting dressed quickly. I hated changing in front of other people, even if it was just Jace.

He sat quietly until I turned back to him, putting the gown on the bed and clearing my throat. It took him a minute to actually get up out of the seat again, sighing and stretching as he followed me out of the room where Banz and mom were waiting.

"Ah, Willow. We've got your medication, and your appointments are set up to be on the twentieth until March. If you have any problems though, don't hesitate to some and see me, alright?" Banz said, handing me a small bag that I assumed held my medicine. I nodded back, and he smiled, looking between Jace, mom and I. "Well, if that's all, feel free to go home, and be sure to get lots of rest for the next few days."

I nodded again, and Banz smiled one last time before leaving, going to talk to another doctor as mom sighed. "C'mon, Will. We better get you home."
