A/N: Just saying thanks to Leyla for the review which helped me a lot! This time, I'm just re-writing the whole story and just literally scrapping the story that I have done so far. However, it will still be similar it's just that Charlotte shall have a different personality so basically the whole story will change... But she will still meet the other main characters, Joker! ;) Anyway, once this is up, I would have most probably replaced this chapter now and here comes the introduction!

Introduction - The Past That Haunts Me

Charlotte's P.O.V

"YOU'RE GOING TO PAY FOR THIS CHARLOTTE! REMEMBER! THIS DEVIL IS STILL ALIVE! ALIVE I SAY!" an angry man shouted hysterically.

Policemen tried to hold him down and handcuff his hands whilst he was struggling to break free. Struggling to break free and kill me... I looked up to see his face... It was filled with anger and rage. He did not feel one bit guilty for what he did... I was on my knees and coughing up blood in the middle of the street... I felt a stinging pain in my stomach, the place where that man hit me with all his might. The place where all his anger was concentrated on... Me... I couldn't take the pain anymore and collapsed... I heard some distant voices of people calling me...

I woke up from the dream I just had of my past... I slowly opened my eyes slowly to hear my husband by my side, calling me to stay awake. I saw the white and eerie ceiling of the hospital room. I saw the worried and tearful faces of my children and grandchildren. I guess they were worried about when I would die...

I could hear myself breathing heavily through the machine beside me... I am 84 years old, an old woman who is on the brink of death... I slowly reached out to my husband's hand and he gripped it tightly. I turned my head around to look him in the eye.

"... Dear... Tell... Them..." I whispered with the last of my strength I had within me.

"... Yes... Just rest peacefully..." he replied quietly to me as he kissed the back of my hand.

"I... I... Shall..." I turned my head back round to face the ceiling of the hospital room and a smile slowly formed on my lips.

I slowly closed my eyes whilst I heard my children cry. Silly children... Even though my body is weak, my soul is still alive. I laughed in my head. Though I am not too sure if they would abandon this senile old lady once they hear about my life... I thought gloomily.

Once my eyes were fully shut, I suddenly saw a kaleidoscope. A kaleidoscope of memories... The memories of the lost... The memories of my past... The memories that I loathed.

I'll take you back 60 years ago when I was 24, in the year 2013 and I'll explain from there what had happened...

In the year 2013

On a breezy spring afternoon, there sat a smiling girl on a hill. That smiling girl with flowing, long, hazelnut-brown hair, turquoise eyes and pale skin embracing the wind was me. Charlotte Rachel Gale, 172cm tall, weighed 54kg, blood type A, birthday is on 28th June and occupation is a jewellery designer of the Stardust Company.

I closed my eyes as I embraced the wind and the fresh air. I took one deep breath in and sighed contently as I looked at the beautiful and vast scenery in front of me. I sat on a hill that had nothing apart from grass and a tall and proud oak tree. Surrounding the hill were many green fields and hills. On the right of the hill, there was a river that connected to a cascade waterfall. On the river were many ducks, swans, fishes, etc and in the middle of the river and cascade waterfall were large stepping-stones. Surrounding it were many little stones and flowers growing around the side. The view was simply breathtaking. All you could see was mother nature with the sun rising covering everything in its warmth.

I took my iPod and earphones out of my bag whilst watching the first sunrise of the day. I began to play A Thousand Years by Christina Perri when I plugged my earphones in my ears. I hummed to the tune as the song started. Unconsciously, I started to sing along with the song.

Heartbeats fast
Colours and promises
How to be brave
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow
One step closer

I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I love you for a thousand more

Time stands still
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything take away
What's standing in front of me
Every breath
Every hour has come to this
One step closer

I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I love you for a thousand more

And all along I believed I would find you

Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I love you for a thousand more

One step closer
One step closer

I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I love you for a thousand more

And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I love you for a thousand more

My singing was being carried by the wind to the wast fields and when the song was over, I stopped singing to which the wind stopped as if only living for my singing. I smiled as brushed some hair away from my face behind my ear. I got up and brushed off the grass from my brown shorts that were ruffled to look like a skirt. It's the start of a new day today! I giggled and started to walk away from the oak tree. Leaning against the oak tree were two bouquets of pink carnations and two pieces of paper saying...

You are happy in heaven... right?

Little did I know that someone was leaning against the back of the same oak tree and that person was smiling to himself...
