Skullduggery –
The tapping on her window was constant and annoying. Rodwen lifted herself off the creaking bed and looked at the window. There was a bird, a beautiful, terrifying hawk with piercing yellow eyes. It continued to tap, more rapid now that she was watching it.
Slowly, she walked toward the window.
"Open the damn window, girl!" It shrieked and she jumped violently.
"Sorry!" She yelled and let the hawk inside. The brown bird hopped from the sill and onto the trunk. His wings knocked over the lamp, shattering the glass.
"My apologies, I am a right mess. That dragon sure knows how to ruffle my feathers."
Rodwen closed the window to not let in the cold air and stepped around the glass, weary.
"Um, no, don't worry about it. I didn't have anything to light it with anyway. What about Daeron, what happened?"
The hawk shook his wings out again and snapped his sharp beak.
"The over-grown lizard is neglecting his duties, is all. And he insulted me," The bird scoffed (however a bird can scoff, Rodwen was left wondering) and proceeded to fly onto the floor near her feet.
Rodwen stumbled back, startled.
"It is alright, child. I wish to have a look at your arm."
Unsure, she slowly got onto her knees and watched at the bird nipped the sling.
"Definitely broken, by the bruising… the dragon has been feeding you, yes?" She nodded and the bird went back to his inspection. "Well, I'd say that would take about three months for this to heal, considering your current health."
"What? But that is so long! I don't want to stay here for that long! Daeron scares me and I'm so bored all the time." Rodwen pulled her arm back.
"I am sorry, girl, but that is the truth."
Prompt: Shattered
