Prologue

A/N: So this is my first piece of writing I have ever made public. I'd love to hear some positive feedback and POSITIVE criticism. Also if anyone could make me a cover that would be amazing! Just private message me it or email it to lonewolf6693 . Hope you guys enjoy the prologue. I'll try to post Chapter 1 ASAP.

Something about Earth is changing; I can feel it all around. The storms, earthquakes, and global warming are not natural. Scientists believe that man is to blame for it. While this accusation is partly true, it is not the full truth, for the world is not all it appears to be. People have wars with one another and think that is as bad as it gets, that man is the only creature capable of total destruction. There is much more than man that can be far worse. There are beings of higher powers about this world. There are the gods. The human race has forgotten about them. Humanity goes about the world thinking that these all mighty beings are only myths, that they are legends of the old world. However, they are about to learn better.

The gods are angry at humanity for forgetting them, for not getting the praise they use to get in the old days; this is not the first time. Every hundred years or so, the gods try to force their ways upon men. When this happens, disaster always occurs, leaving humans vulnerable. But humanity is not alone; it never has been, and it never will be if I have any say.

While many gods and spirits dare not shamble the gods' plans, there are a few that help humanity, a few like me. I am Gaeapnuema, but I go as Alexandra now. I am the spirit of the Earth, the breath that keeps it going. I was made by Zeus many millennia ago to protect and help Earth with humanity and all of its inhabitants. It has been so long that even the great Zeus has forgotten me. Some would think that this is terrible thing to befall a creature, to be forgotten by its creator, which is not my case. Because of Zeus's lack of memory of me, I can help the humanity without Zeus tracking me down to destroy me, like others of my nature.

In the beginning, there were many of my kind created. Zeus was not the only god concerned with the state of the world. Gods ranging from high and powerful, to minor beings with gifts granted from the gods, have created beings to watch over this great planet. But each time the gods become angry with men, they forget why they created these protective beings and destroy them so that they may be rid the race of men. Because of this, very few protectors remain. But just because we are small in numbers, does not mean we are incapable of fulfilling our tasks.

So for those left listening; here my cry. We are protectors; this is our duty to behold. Run not from the gods, but fight them and remind them who we are. Remind of the vow that we all made to humanity.
