When The Rain Falls

Chapter Nine

The rain pattered down hard on the window as I stared out it. Why was the new kid outside, or was he in the mirror? I don't know, I walk up to the window, placing my hand on the glass frame. He runs up to me, placing his hand on top of mine. It's cold, rain dripping from it. He must be outside. I open the window to find that he was outside, shivering. I sigh, "Why are you outside for?" He had this confused look on his face, and I sigh again, but this time it's in annoyance, "I said, why are you outside for?"

Steffen smiles, "I-I was just o-on my way ins-side!"

I raise a brow, "Really? You look nervous."

He nods, despite his shivering, "Y-yes…Say, c-can I come in?"

He pointed at the window, and I sigh, "You want to enter through the window?" I got a nod, and I chuckle, stepping aside, "You have a way with entering the building I must say…"

I turn to see three confused faces. Casey laughs, "You okay? You're soaked to the bone, Steffen!" She helps him inside, "Why were you out there anyway?"

He shudders, "W-well…I was walking back inside, w-when this group of p-people came and t-tied me to a p-post."

"HUH?" I hear John shocked voice, "YOU WERE OUT THERE? SINCE WHEN? I DIDN'T SEE YOU…"

"Oh, s-since this a-aftern-noon actually…" He sits, "I'm c-cold."

"With the stutters ya giving off, I can see, Steffen!" Casey grabs a blanket and dumps it on him, "That should warm ya up!"

"T-thanks…" He wraps it around his shoulders, making a form of a cape, "T-the stuttering i-is a prob-blem I h-had since I was y-young."

"Oh, did not know that…" She sighs.

We start to talk amongst each other about random things, but I couldn't help but think to myself what it would be like to be on the other side of the mirror. I mean, Tiffany did say, I think, that it was a darker world, but what's darker than war? I don't see what is darker than war, besides death. However, death is such a sad thing, so I'm not too sure. It makes people cry their hearts out for the one they'd love and cherish, so why would death be in the other world? I sigh; things will never make sense with me.

They are all still chatting with each other. Well, it's more of Sky trying to calm Casey and John down while Steffen is having this confused trance. He looks so confused, I don't know how I'm going to put this to him, explaining isn't my thing. Although, how can I explain it? I don't even know what they're talking about. I look at Sky, he's face expression reads frustration and annoyance. I have to admit, he looks really funny when he's frustrated, he usually huffs and stands in the middle of the problem, pulling it apart; In this case, Casey and John. I sigh, stepping towards them, I need to do something.

I step forward, sighing, "Why are you guys fighting for?"

Casey laughs, although she can hide annoyance really well, "Coincidence, love."

Sky sighs, and looks at me, "You okay?"

"What?"

"Pardon? You have a soft voice…"

I sigh, "Never mind…" I look in the mirror, noticing that it hasn't changed, "Nothing at all."

He chuckles, "Okay then? Anyway, did you hear about the sighting the other day?"

"What sighting?"

"Oh, haven't you heard? This girl here gone into a mental breakdown because apparently she saw this girl with a knife in her hand."

"Where?"

"Funny thing is, she saw her in the mirror. People say that she's gone insane, but I believe that she hasn't." He sighs, "I have no clue what she saw, but I believe her."

John slumps down on the floor, "I believe her, I saw the exact thing on the first day here."

That's interesting. People can see the other world, any type of person. I stare at Steffen, and he has this worried yet guilty look on his face. I raise a brow, why does he look so guilty for? It's not like he's from the other world? Or is he? I wouldn't know, but there's something about him that I don't trust. Sure I seem nice to him from time to time, but I don't know. Every time he talks he stutters, but that seems fake to me. Like a picture that has been photo shopped to look better, that's what he looks like. The ay he acts is strange as well, as if he has been programed to do what he does, he's like a robot.

I glance over to look at the time, 9:30pm. That doesn't make any sense, we've been in here for hours but to me it feels like ten minutes. What? I don't understand any of this at all, not even me. I mind has been so messed up lately that I cannot even think straight. I wish things weren't this difficult, that way I can actually think and do things I want to do. I feel so annoyed.

Thunder explodes from the sky and we all go silent, looking around. That was very weird for that to happen, it stopped raining two hours ago and now it's raining again. I look at the mirror, noticing that it has turned black. Casey turns white as she spots it, jumping up. John and Sky seem very confused. The mirror makes waves as if it's the ocean, a foot steps out. I gasp, stepping back. Not again, please don't let this happen again!

Too late for that though, one the foot stepped out, then a person came into view. It was Tiffany, smirking away. She looks around, staring at Steffen, "You!" She walks up to him, grabbing his collar. He is lifted into the air, "Where have you been?! How did you enter this world?!" She shook him when he didn't answer, "Answer me!"

"Hey!" Sky stepped in, "What are you doing? Who are you?!"

She laughs, "Didn't Alice tell you?" She looks at me, "Alice dear, whatever is the matter with you?"

I sneer, "You seem in a very good mood…"

"Indeed, Alice! I finally found this one here!" She jerks Steffen harder, causing him to choke, "You see, I am not from this world."

"You're not?" John questions, "Then where are you from?"

She points at the mirror, "Why on the other side of the mirror of course!" She laughs, glaring at Steffen, "Now, what to do with you?!"

"Wait!" Casey waves her hands, "What do you want with him? Why do you need him?"

"Didn't he tell you?! He's a slave of mine!"

What? "A slave?"

She nods, "Yes dear Alice, a slave." She glares harder on him, "A slave that has somehow managed to escape from me!" She clicks her fingers, looking at everyone. She smiles at me, holding out a hand, "Come."

"What?"

"Come, Alice. You can bring whoever you like." She walks towards us all, as we take a step back, "You'll like it, I promise!" What we didn't realise at the time was that we were walking back towards the mirror.

I shake my head, looking around frantically, "No! We're not coming with you!"

She smirks, "Too late!"

We were all pushed into the mirror, immediately getting transported into this world. It's so weird; colours were all over the walls, shining off them. No one was screaming though, in fact, every time someone said something, no sound came out. I glance over at Casey, and she's white a sheet. I look down, seeing another mirror below me. We were all pushed out of it, landing on the ground with a loud thud. We look around, eyes widening.

Where are we?
