The Wild
I dream of the wild,
The colors, smells, and sounds.
The rustling tree, the babbling brook,
All in my sight.
I see this from amber eyes,
Four feet on the ground.
Wind rustles my fur,
As I dream of the wild.
The thrill of the hunt,
The smell of my prey.
I hear the howls of my pack,
All around me as I run.
I see in muted greys,
I hear every sound.
I am never alone,
As I dream of the wild.
The colors fade,
As my heart cries.
I awake alone,
In the city far away.
Blue eyes in the mirror,
Gone is the grey course fur.
My heart longs for a pack,
To no longer be alone.
My heart longs for the wolf,
And my dream of the wild.
