Black Mansion
Chapter 1:
Darkness was wrapped around the lone figure of a young woman on the railroad; its black cloak was a sinister background for the murder happening before her. Petrified by the horror in front of her, the purple haired girl snapped a shaky picture of the two murderers and their victim. The flash lit up the gruesome scene for a moment, and then the two murderers turned slowly, an evil glint in their eyes. They rose and advanced towards her.
The girl flinched, terrified of the two men coming towards her and at once started running away. As she hurried away from the killers, she could hear a faint yell from behind her.
"Stop her!" one of the men yelled. Akari threw a terrified glance over her shoulder and watched as he pulled out a gun from his pocket as he pursued after her.
The other man growled and followed his companion.
She ran as fast as her legs could take her, but the men were closing in on her. Her heartbeat quickened and thumped frantically behind her ribs. It was like her heart would jump out of her chest at any moment now. She was so frightened, that she had no idea what to do in this crazy and unbelievable situation.
Who would have thought that something like this would happen the first time you hung out with your friends outside? This was just too unreal. This had to be a dream! Oh, how she would love it if all of this was just a dream, but instead it was cruel reality.
'No, no! This can't be happening! Why?! Why me?' she thought in frustration, as she ran into the forest, the gnarled branches tearing at her dress and clawing at her porcelain skin.
It had been her 18th birthday just the other day, and tonight was the first time she had stayed out late with her friends. Her over-protective parents had finally allowed it…
The crack of a gun echoed from behind her, de-railing her train of thought. The bulled whizzed past her head, millimeters away from her skin. She looked back, her eyes filled with terror. The men were aiming at her with their handguns and the chilling sight made her blood turn to ice in her veins.
'Why did this have to happen as soon as I left the house for one night? Why? I just want to go home!" she asked herself, her stomach churning, making her feel nauseas. But she forced herself to continue onwards.
A huge shadow loomed in front of her, her frantic eyes widened in fright before she realized that it was a huge black mansion. Without thinking, she dashed towards it. She had become quite tired after running so much, and her vision had begun to blur and darken from the lack of air getting to her brain from her abused and exhausted lungs. Breathing was so hard while running with terror deep within ones chest. Would she survive this? Or would they kill her, in order to make her stay silent for all eternity?
'Damn it!' she yelled in her mind, tears of frustration spilling down her cheeks, while bone chilling fear washed over her entire being. 'Even if I die, I'll make sure they are arrested by the police!' Determined, she pulled her phone out of her pocket, and started sending the picture she had taken to all of her contacts, including the police, with a small message stating where she had seen it and when.
A second crack filled the air, causing her to duck. This time the bullet had cut some wavy purple hairs from her head.
"Kill her!" One of them yelled, barraging her with another shower of bullets.
Her body began shaking unstoppably, while her stomach twisted and coiled in horror.
Seeing the wrought iron gate of the mansion, she scrambled up the cracking metal, her feet slipping on the slick iron. When she came to the top of the gate, she slid down to the ground and threw a quick look behind her an saw that more men were headed her way.
She decided to not look back anymore and just run for her life. Run before it's the end, run, and try to stay alive. She hadn't accomplished anything in her life yet, she hadn't even kissed anyone despite the fact that she was already 18 years old, nor had she truly been in love with someone. If she died now, what could she say that she had done with her life? Would she get to know that feeling of accomplishment?
Her breaths were shallow as she hurried to the main doors of the mansion. She wrapped her hands around the elaborate handles and heaved the huge doors open. She slipped inside, and the doors swung closed by themselves, startling her momentarily. Pitch blackness met her pink eyes, and she saw nothing.
"She went inside the house!"
"Take her out!"
"Don't let her escape!"
"Kill her!"
Hearing their threatening words caused her to twist her features into a horrified expression. She chewed her nails, a nervous habit, and took some steps forward. She hit something with her toes. Tentatively she lifted her foot higher and moved it forward, making contact with a small wall that sounded hollow when she knocked against it. 'It's a staircase…' she mused. When her hand found its way to the banister, she slowly walked up the stairs. Once she came to the end of the staircase, she saw a yellow light coming from her left side. Hope filled her chest as she went ahead and followed the light.
She heard the front doors open and another bullet missed her as they began shooting at her again. Her stomach twisted and churned inside her, while her heart beat rapidly. She just hoped that she would survive this.
She began running again, her wavy purple hair flowing out from behind her as once again her eyes glazed over in terror.
At least she had sent the incriminating picture of them, so there was no way they would get away with it, even if she didn't make it out alive.
She was getting closer to the yellow light. A smile made its way to her lips as she opened the door and went inside the room, locking it. Gasping for breath, she looked around the room curiously, suddenly feeling safe and protected.
She saw a roaring fire and a man dressed in a suit who was lying next to the fire in a high backed chair. His blond curls framed his face perfectly, his skin was pale and luscious, and he was very handsome, Akari noted. His eyes were closed, the dark lashes casting long shadows on his cheeks.
She made her way to his side and lowered herself to the floor next to him, touching his cheek softly, marveling at his soft skin. He didn't stir at her touch, and his skin was cold, making her wonder if he was alive. She looked at him with tears welling in her pink eyes. They then over spilled and trickled down her reddened cheeks, sparkling like jewels in the firelight.
Sadness overwhelmed her. If this man was dead, then it would probably be her turn soon as well. Her hand retreated back gently from his freezing, yet pale skin. She rose up from her crouched position on the floor and glanced over to the opened window. The breeze was fierce, making her purple hair flow back in a silky mass. The fire shrunk under the wind's breath, dimming the already weak light in the room, threatening to leave her in darkness once again.
With cautious steps, she went over to fireplace. She bent her head down as she stared into the burning embers. Her pink eyes widened as she saw a shadow cross the fire. She whipped her head around to look behind her. As her eyes scanned over the rest of the room nervously, her entire body was tense and she was ready to spring into action at a moment's notice. She saw nothing though. Her eyes must have been playing a cruel joke on her. Sighing in relief, she visibly relaxed and turned back to the flickering flames, and fed it with some kindle and branches that were lying beside the fireplace. The fire roared back to life, snapping and crackling happily as it consumed the wood, making the purple haired girl smile contentedly. Her hands hovered above the fire, trying to warm her clammy skin.
Her temperature had fallen during her flight through the dark woods. Not only that, but her dress was ripped into shreds, and her knees and arms were covered in small scratches that oozed blood from where stray branches had grazed her porcelain skin.
Her right hand swept away the dried tears staining her cheeks as she stood up gazing at the window once more, deep in thought. Without her even realizing it, four pairs of eyes were watching her every move, lingering in the darkness.
Akari walked over the window, with a sad smile making its way to her face. Standing by the window, she looked down, and saw just how high up she was from the ground. The harsh and icy wind clawed its way across her bare skin.
Suddenly, she heard loud footsteps echoing through the walls, headed her way. She smiled insecurely and hopped onto the window sill, her legs dangled from the window, causing one of her shoes to fall to the floor with a slight thump since she was slightly bent over. Her head peered over knees to look at her fallen footwear. She brought up her knees and tilted her head to face the still closed door frame, and rested her head on the tops of her knees. 'I'd rather jump then be killed by scums like them,' she thought to herself. 'I'd rather jump…'
Piercing screams reached her eardrums, startling her, and causing a gasp to pass her lips. 'What is that…?!' she thought, as she lifted her head from her knees, and looked intensely at the door, wondering what was going on. She winced when she heard a clicking sound coming from the door, but she didn't avert her gaze. Even though she was frightened, her curiosity took over her, and only grew stronger as time crawled by.
"Ah," she mumbled when she saw the door open and another man entered the half darkened room. She couldn't see his face, only the black suit he was wearing, but he felt somewhat different from the men who had chased her. His presence was like the frigid wind that was tugging at her hair and ragged clothes.
He extended his hand towards where the firelight pooled, and when she saw that it was dripped with blood, surprise engulfed Akari. Her eyes widened as she stared, entranced by the blood staining his hands and part of his sleeve. After a moment, he took another step into the light and it illuminated his entire form. The shock of crimson hair was the first thing she noticed. The shaggy mane reached the top of his shoulders and fell across his forehead messily. As for his height, he obviously towered over her slightly smaller frame. The deep sea blue of his eyes glinted in the weak light. His pale skin almost shimmered as the firelight kissed his cheeks and lips. Akari watched hypnotized as those lips quirked up into an evil smile, and she could only stare as his lips slid over pear white teeth in order to reveal two glistening fangs. His fangs protruded, indenting his plump bottom lip as the smirk grew.
Her eyes were still glued to his pointy teeth, and when his mouth moved to speak, she froze. The deep baritone of his voice rumbled out of his chest and reverberated into hers, a hollow overtone rang out almost silently, giving his voice unimaginable depth. His deep blue eyes watched her the whole time; her whole body was tense under his timeless gaze. She felt something evil resounding from his deep sea blue eyes, and that smirk only affirmed that she should fear for her life.
When he started walking towards her, his eyes pierced into her soul, causing her heart to almost jump out of her chest. Absentmindedly, she grabbed a hold of her chest, her fingers clenched into the thin fabric. Her eyes bored into his and she was unable to look away. He stopped beside the chair where the lifeless body of the blond haired man laid. His eyes blinked lazily, and he turned to look down at his friend, completely ignoring the girl who sat in the window.
Akari was caught by surprise when he drizzled some of the blood that covered his hand onto the blonde's lips, the crimson fluid pooling before seemingly being absorbed. After a few seconds, a tongue wiped away any traces of blood, and he opened his eyes to revel bright green eyes, like newly furled leaves in spring. They looked directly into the red head's blue eyes. A silent communication must have gone on because they both turned and looked directly at the purple haired girl.
Akari flinched slight at their polar gazes, their eyes held different meaning for her. One was like a glacial darkness waiting to consumer her, the other a timeless watchful look, and their eyes were much too old for the body that held them.
The blond who sat on the chair stood up, and walked over to her with silent, feline steps. The red haired man looked into the darkness. "You guys missed the fun I got to have with our intruders." He chuckled mirthlessly and then he turned to look at her. "One more to go." A sly smirk played over his lips, as his tongue glided over his teeth, tasting the blood that was still left. His eyes were glowing in the darkness, and Akari felt like he was staring into her mind, opening every door and revealing every secret.
She began shaking her head as she realized that the blond haired man was closing in on her. Her eyes widened impossibly further, and then without realizing she tilted away from the man and towards the open space of the window. For one sickening moment she slipped, and gravity pulled at her, but she quickly righted herself as her hands grasped at the wall tightly. She panted slightly as her heart stopped beating in her throat. Talk about being lucky, because she had survived for the second time in one night. Then she turned her head back to the blond haired man who was walking towards her. He stopped a few meters away from her and extended his hand towards her, his handsome face flowing in the firelight, his lips tugging upwards. It was the perfect gentleman's smile that he had on his lips, and it was a smile just for her.
Akari blushed, as his impossibly green eyes looked only at her, smiled only for her, and she felt like she was the only person who mattered in the world when she looked into this beautiful man's eyes. Entranced, she lifted her hand towards his, her fingers stretching until they brushed against his skin, the coldness causing her to pull away slightly before placing her hand fully in his. She smiled serenely until he grabbed her wrist forcefully, shattering her warm bubble of happiness. Shock and incredulousness washed over her in huge waves, and her mind that had been smothered momentarily was now screaming at her, 'you idiot! You've just given yourself to him!'
His grip tightened to a bruising grasp as he pulled her towards him. Akari gasped breathlessly when she came into contact with his hard, broad chest. His hand was still tight around her wrist as he pulled her hand high up into the air, causing her to stare into his face, her gaze once again caught by the emerald depths of his yes. She almost drowned staring into his eyes, but shook her head lightly when her pink orbs landed on his glistening bared fangs. His lips quirked up into an amused smirk, as though he knew something that she didn't, making her cheeks turn redder, especially when he lowered his head against her neck, his warm breath ghosting over her skin, causing goose bumps to erupt across her skin. Shivers skittered down her back as his lips made contact with her silky skin. She felt him open his mouth against her skin, his tongue lapping at the skin slightly. Just before his teeth nicked her skin, a spine chilling voice interrupted.
"Nozomu, don't be greedy. You know it's impolite not to share things with your friends," the russet haired man sneered, his lips twisting into a cruel smirk.
The blond haired man she now knew as Nozomu retreated his head back from her bare skin. Akari shivered again from the lack of contact. He rose to his full height, his hand slowly leaving her wrist. As soon as his hand left her, she wrapped her fingers around her wrist exactly in the same place he had just released, holding it softly. 'Warm…' she thought in a daze.
Nozomu turned and looked at the still smirking red head with an annoyed glare for interrupting.
"Kaoru," he said with a sickeningly sweet smile. "And why would I do that? Unlike you, I at least treat humans with some care."
Akari blinked her eyes and glanced at the two bickering men. 'What are they talking about?' She eyed the two men with wonder and curiosity. One of her eyebrows was quirked up and she tilted her head slightly.
Kaoru burst into laughter. It was light and free and quite a contradiction to his mean and snide attitude. Akari almost flinched at the cheerful noise, her confusion and curiosity doubling.
Nozomu hardened his glare at Kaoru who was chuckling evilly and exaggeratedly. A sigh escaped his lips while he gazed into the shadows, causing Akari to look as well. 'What's so interesting in the darkness?' she asked, trying to see if there was anything in the dark, but failing miserably. Her eyes did not notice anything amiss.
After a few seconds had past, she noticed a pair of silver eyes glowing in the black shadows out of reach of the still roaring fire. Her lips parted as she gaped in shock. 'How did I not see that?!' Eyes like molten silver stared at her intensely, the burning gaze making her skin tingle wherever they landed, as if the owner of those eyes were touching her. The thought made her even tenser. Unconsciously she stepped back, her foot barely going back a millimeter, but it was enough for the men to return their eyes on her petite form before they looked back into the shadows.
"Stop staring at her, Jun," Kaoru snarled. "She's already my food. Find your own repas!"
After hearing the very one sided threat, the silver eyes disappeared into the darkness, and Akari's confusion only grew. Her rosette orbs widened as Nozomu and Kaoru started at each other again.
"Who said that she's yours?" Nozomu said, glaring daggers at the read head, his eyes practically flaming.
"Hah," Kaoru laughed, his eyes glinting evilly. "I did. Why, you got a problem with that, debile?"
Akari could only stand and stare at the strange conversation, or should she say argument, going around her. 'Are they seriously talking about me as if I'm not here? And why did they keep calling me a meal? I'm not a steak!' Akari was slightly pissed off, but her fear, and curiosity were killing her so she wasn't about to say anything.
She tried to edge away from the arguing men, their whiplash words filling the air with promises of violence and pain. Unfortunately she tripped over a book that was lying innocently on the floor. She tumbled gracelessly to the floor, dragging her knee against the filthy floor, scraping her knee. Blood welled up from the torn skin and dribbled down her leg, staining her sock and dripping onto the dusty floor. 'Ca fait mal!' She stared horrified and clutched at the wound, flinching when something shifted further into her knee as she grasped it.
With one eye closed, she bent her head closer to her knee, and noticed a rather large splinter jutting from under her knee cap. 'Oh, my god! Look at the size of that thing!" she screamed to herself.
"Mmmm," the moan pulled her out of her thoughts, and she looked up to see Nozomu lick his lips in desire. His jade eyes were glowing as his lips slid back, revealing long fangs. "Smells… delicious," he growled, his voice husky and low.
"Ah." Kaoru's eyes closed in ecstasy, as if he had smelled a sweet rose, or a fragrant dish. "What a lovely scent," he groaned.
"Um…" Akari said, watching their faces twist into expressions of hunger and desire as their gazes fell onto her once again.
The men shared one glance between each other, nodded, and then approached her. Kaoru's smirk was filled with a primal hunger, while Nozomu's smile was gentler but still had a reflection of a primal hunger that was similar to Kaoru's. Their gazes confused and scared her. As they approached, she backed away further, dragging herself across the floor as she could with a bleeding wound and going backwards. Suddenly her back made contact with a wall. The window was blocked by the two advancing men, and even if she made a break for the door, she wouldn't make it with her the leg the way it was. She had already been lucky twice in one day, would she really get a third?
Suddenly, an idea hit her, and she parted her lips slightly and lowered her head until her hair covered her face. "Um… could you… help me?" she mumbled the query quietly, but it was enough for the two men to freeze in their tracks upon hearing her speak for the first time.
They both stared at her hunched form, and after a moment of silence they both chuckled. Akari lifted up her head when she heard their laughter, and gasped when she saw how close they were. Nozomu was close to her face, gazing into her eyes. His right hand brushed through her purple hair with his fingertips, letting the silky strands slip through his fingers like water. Kaoru, on the other hand, had his hand resting on her bloodied knee, not touching the wound, but letting her blood coat his hand before he brought it up to his lips and licked it off, his eyes closed in pleasure and a purring growl rumbled from his chest.
"Eh?!" Akari watched as his pink tongue swiped the blood from his fingers and said in utter surprise, "Wha-what are you doing?"
"Hmm," Nozomu muttered close to her face. His hand held a strand of her hair and raised it to his face, breathing in deeply, inhaling its sweet scent. "Why do you smell so lovely?" he asked her as his eyes looked into hers, searching for the answer in her pink hued orbs, and demanding she tell him.
"I…I-I I don't know!" she said, louder than she had meant to, her face flushed, and her heart pounding in her chest.
He smirked since she was blushing due to his closeness and dropped the lock of hair. He stroked her head instead, and whispered huskily. "Let me taste you, hmm…"
"T-Taste…me?!" Many scenarios ran through her mind at his comment, but none of them were rational.
Kaoru snorted because the girl's attention was on Nozomu. She was ignoring his presence completely, but he would let her know that he was still there. He opened his mouth and sank his fangs into her knee.
Akari screamed in pain, and threw her head into the wall, moaning, "Ca fait mal! Ca fait mal… Make it stop!"
Her eyes were clenched shut, and tears welled in the corners of her eyes, but they never slid down her face. Seeing her pain-filled expression, Nozomu fired a harsh glare in the red head's direction. "Don't be so rough, Kaoru. You should be gentler with girls, they're fragile."
He glared at him from his position attached to Akari's leg, blood dribbling down the side of his mouth where he had sucked too hard. "The word gentle isn't in my dictionary," he said into her knee, ripping the skin where his fangs were still embedded, and went back to ignoring the blond.
Akari tried to pull away when he ripped her skin, jerking her knee downward, trying to dislodge his teeth, but he just growled, and sunk his teeth deeper into her flesh. She froze and gritted her teeth at the overwhelming pain, her eyes scrunched shut, tears falling and streaking through her grimy face.
Her head began lolling backwards and forwards, her eyelids relaxed and fluttered momentarily. The cloudy rose iris glinted in the firelight before her eye's rolled back and she slumped to the floor unconscious. Before her head hit the ground, Nozomu caught it in his arms, and slapped Kaoru across the face since he was still feeding on her blood. This caused the red head to crash onto the floor some distance away.
Kaoru bared his fangs at him. "What the hell did you do that for?" he asked, his voice sounding irritated and angry.
"Are you an idiot?" he snapped angrily, returning his attention to the lifeless girl in his arms.
Kaoru shrugged cautiously, rubbing his cheek with his hand, and warily watched the now volatile blond. "We were going to kill her anyway."
"She's not dead," said another voice from the shadows. A pair of silver eyes glinted once again, the same ones from before, but this time he came into the light, the shadows of the room slipping off him like a coat, revealing a lean form. His arms were slender but muscular, and a messy pile of pink hair sat on top of his head. The ruffled pink layers fell down beside his moon-light colored eyes that stared at the tiny woman in Nozomu's arms.
Nozomu checked her pulse after Jun stated that she was still alive, and just as he had said, the purple haired girl was still alive, her pulse faint but even.
"I have a suggestion," the red haired man said, an evil smile tugging his lips as his molten eyes roved over the unconscious girl. "Why not keep her here? It's not like she had anywhere else to go, since she was nearly killed."
It looked like the two other vampires were considering his offer. After a silent moment, both of them nodded.
"Then I will able to eat her later," Kaoru said with a sly smirk on his lips.
"But not kill her," Jun said with a tiny nod, turning sharply on his heels, and vanishing once more into the shadows.
"Indeed," Nozomu nodded as well and pulled Akari into his arms, supporting her legs and waist, allowing her head to loll against his chest. He looked at her unconscious face, and noted that all signs of pain and fear had been wiped away and replaced with the calm serenity of slumbering. He marveled at her ability to sleep even though she had nearly died. A tiny, genuine smile played upon his lips before vanishing.
Nozomu headed straight for the doorway. Jun and Kaoru watched him carefully, but just as he was about to step out a new voice called out from the dark, blood stained hallway. "Nozomu, take her to one of the guest suites in the right wing. A brazier should be burning in the biggest room. She can stay there." A tall slender form emerged from the darkness, just as moonlight streamed in from the skylight high above their heads in the vaulted ceiling, illuminating the midnight black hair that cascaded down broad shoulders in a shimmering waterfall. Blood red eyes reflected the light like a cat's, and his ivory pale skin seemed to glow. "After you have taken her there, you will leave her to rest, and you will not disturb her. Kaoru and Jun will do well to heed this advice also. She is not a guest of the Éternel Maison, and she will be treated as such."
The beautiful man vanished into the darkness after Nozomu nodded sharply. He headed for the right wing of the mansion, his heeled shoes tapping quietly in the otherwise silent house. The blond frowned, thinking over the instructions. There were no loopholes that he could exploit, and he really didn't want to face his master's wrath.
Nozomu stepped up to an ornate door; the dark wood was filled with intricate carving of flowers and birds. The door swung open moments after he stopped before it, revealing a blazing fire in a marble fireplace. A large painting of the mansion hung above the huge fire, a perfect replica of the brooding house down to the last strand of ivy clinging to its walls. Thick plush carpets lined the floor, deadening Nozomu's footsteps, his feet sinking into the soft material as he strode over to the huge four-poster bed. Rich velvet purple drapes hung from the roof above it. Tassels of gold and silver tied them to the side in long heavy swathes. Numerous furs and blankets were piled upon the bed with cushions and pillows dotted about.
Gently, the blond placed Akari upon a large, white colored fur with long charcoal gray stripes lining. It was from a snow tiger, or at least designed to look like the fur of one.
Nozomu looked at her serene face once more before placing a comforter over her battered form; the light material barely touched her skin, but provided a little coverage to protect her from any cold drafts that got in. He sighed and strode out of the room, closing the heavy door behind him softly, the ancient hinges sliding smoothly and silently.
Still sleeping, Akari moaned in pain and curled into a ball under the comforter, her bloodied fingers curling into the fur beneath her as she whined once more before falling silent. The silence stretched for a number of minutes, the crackling of the fire being the only noise to be heard, accompanied by Akari's soft, slightly uneven breaths.
Silently the door swung open once again. The black haired man glided in, his feet seeming floating above the carpet as he headed straight for the bed that held Akari. He stopped once he reached the edge and look down dispassionately at the tiny human girl curled up under the mass of bedding. Tiny beads of sweat lined her forehead and glistened slightly. His crimson eyes narrowed when her breathing hitched slightly in pain, her fingers clenching involuntarily into the fur once again.
A decision must have been reached in the tall man's mind as he leaned onto the bed, the mattress sinking slightly due to his weight. He crawled over to Akari slowly, making sure that his movements wouldn't disturb the slumbering girl. He waved a long finger at the fire causing it to grow even bigger and hotter, warming the room even further. Slowly he pulled the comforter from the purpled haired girl's body, revealing her torn and dirtied dress. The once pure white fabric was a dirty grey color. Blood, mud and dust clung to her skin, marring its once unblemished surface. Crimson eyes narrowed in annoyance, glaring at the offending marks on Akari's skin. His attention was then drawn to her legs; the milky expanse of her skin seemingly went on forever as it followed her long and slender legs. The tattered dress fell tauntingly short across her things, barely covering her.
A stain of crimson on the fur beneath the girl drew his attention to her ruined knee. The splinter of wood was still embedded in the enflamed skin, and blood oozed slowly from the rips in her flesh from her fall and Kaoru's feed. The wound would get infected unless it was treated.
Snarling, the ebony haired man leaned forwards so that he could take hold of the splinter. He swiftly pulled it out. Akari groaned in pain but did not awaken as blood began to pour out once again. Placing his mouth directly over the wound, he lapped at her wound. His eyes were shut as he concentrated on healing the cut with each lave of his tongue until the wound was gone. The milky smooth skin of her knee was unblemished once more.
The elegant vampire hissed as he forced himself to move away, restraining himself from feeding from the 18 year old girl. He looked down to see his handiwork and nodded smugly at the smooth skin. He looked over her body for more injuries that needed healing. He lifted her arm to eye level, and sneered at the ring of bruises around her wrist, left by Nozomu. He licked the skin until this bruise also disappeared. He moved to her other arm where there was a lattice of scratches covering it from her flight through the forest. Licks were applied here too. This continued for all of her visible wounds, from the deep gouges from her falls to the tiny scratches caused by thorns and broken twigs. They were all licked and healed by the now slightly panting male.
The temptation of just tasting her blood, but not drinking it was taking its toll. His pale skin was slightly flushed, and the skin on his forehead glistened with sweat. His pupils were dilated as he drew deep breaths and exhaled shakily.
Akari had not woken once during his gentle ministration. Her breaths had evened out and deepened into the calm, healthy breaths of the sleeping. Only one wound remained, a long, thin screech on her cheek where a bullet from the chase away from the murderers had nicked her.
"I will leave you that reminder, le Petit. We will speak of tonight's events in the morning." With that, he glided out of the room, the door closing behind him with a soft click.
Akari sighed in her sleep and a small smile formed on her lips. 'Merci,' she whispered.
