All I've seen since the day you left
Is an image of your tan, freckled face
Brown eyes
Pointed nose
And a crooked smile that no one could replace
Army green crayons and paste
As our five year old daughter tries to replicate
The uniform you wear in war
The foliage you hide in in horror
You stay strong
You continue on
You fall
You get back up
But this is the first time I've doubted I could make it through the rough
You've contacted us everyday
Or at every chance you got
We've Skyped,
We've typed,
We've called and you've sometimes picked up
But for a couple weeks now
There hasn't been a word
And, babe, it's scaring me to death
That no one seems to have heard
I've been hiding the news from our baby Lily
It terrifies me to bring it up
Just write me the second you get a chance
-You Wife, with all her love
