"Please sit down. If you don't, people will start to wonder what's happening." the man said in his disarmingly charming voice.
"Because they meet people from their dreams everyday, so of course this is no biggie." I muttered to the concrete sidewalk & I could've sworn he chuckled. When I looked back up at him however, he was simply sitting there quietly with a half empty milkshake container.
"Can you at least take off that stupid hat & scarf?" I snapped. I actually liked the hat, but it's not like he needed to know that.
"I might if you come over here." he shrugged. I scowled & walked slowly until I covered half of the distance between us.
"I won't bite. Hard." he said & his shoulders shivered with contained laughter. I growled & walked until I was right in front of the table.
"Now hold up your end of the deal." I spat.
"Sit down at least, it'll be more comfortable." he said as he reached up to his scarf. I sat down & watched as he unwound his scarf from his face & took off his hat. I must have shown surprise on my face because he shrugged & said,
"I know I'm not quite what you'd expected." He had pale, wispy blonde hair that, along with his soft blue eyes, made it seem like he'd fly away with the slightest breeze. He had a pale scar on his rather thick neck though that dispelled the illusion.
"Why are you here? Or why were you in my dream...being creepy?" I asked.
"I probably wasn't being creepy, you were most likely overreacting." he sighed as he ran a hand through his hair. Now that I thought about it...how could the guy have smirked at me if he had been wearing a coat & scarf that had been covering his face? Of course, the fact that there was a stranger in my 'house' was still rather creepy.
"Maybe so, but you haven't told why you were in my head & why you're here now." I replied.
"I'm here to...establish contact with you. I won't bother lying-it'll just make it harder on you." he said. "You're supposed to h-" The sound of a phone ringing interrupted him & he turned pale.
"What is it? What's wrong?" I asked.
"I'm leaving soon. Take this & when I count to three, look away." he said quickly & pushed a piece of paper across the table.
"Wait, what are you-"
"One." he stood up.
"You said you'd explain!"
"Two. I wish I could but...three." A bright flash emanated from him & I was forced to look away. There was no loud bang, in fact there was no sound at all as he disappeared.
"Hello?" I called out once the flash dissipated. "Are you still there?" My voice sounded rather tinny now.
"Who are you talking to?" Carlin asked. His voice sounded strange too.
"I was talking to that guy." I replied instantly & pointed across the table where that guy had sat. But when I looked around there was no one there. But a worn scrap of paper was fluttering on the table, secured by a half full milkshake cup. I picked up the paper & saw that there was one word on it-APOLLO.
