The Hunt
By Tiaray Grace
As the moon rises
And the stars shine their light
The lady and her children stand to take flight
Their winds spread wide
Their calls grow louder
They hunger for blood
And thrive on power
Their victims never hear
The end coming hither
They are taken from the night
As a bird plucks its feather
The blood is soothing
To the great demons lips
It pours down their throats
And tingles their wing tips
There on the road
A poor defenseless child
Curious are the creatures
As they swoop down beside her
She cries for her mother
A woman dearly loved
The woman who is now
Lying dead in the mud
One creature there
Takes pity on the child
And decides to take her home
To be free and wild
He lifts her to the air
Her cries are silenced
He takes her to his lair
A home well-balanced
His bite changes her
Into one of them
She is safe now
With her new friend
