"Nice to meet you, my name is Mary Gloriano," I greeted a boy with wavy, dark brown hair.
"Joel Rolensen," he replied.
"Joel, Mary will be your partner in fighting crime," explained Brandy, our boss.
"Yes," Joel murmured. He used his watch and pressed a button. "Like this?" He transformed into a light blue cape and baggy indigo clothing.
"Yes, yes, of course," I said and transformed into dark green clothes with a light green cape. "Now we can leave, correct?"
"It's not like it was five years ago, Mary." Brandy touched a button. "Your enemy is Tyson Malbottom."
"Okay." I went to walk out the door.
"Wait." Brandy pulled a lever down. "See you later!"
"Wow, I feel like I shouldn't have came back," I grumbled and got up. We stood in an alleyway.
"You've been at the I. P. I. A. before?" asked Joel, eyes widening with curiosity. "It's only my first day."
"Really? I had no idea." I giggled. "Just how old are you?"
"Uh, I'm thirteen."
"Isn't that a little young to be a PI?"
"No, Brandy says it's the minimum age."
I looked at my watch to see a hologram of Brandy. "WHOA!" I shouted in shock. "How did you..."
"The culprit is three blocks east," Brandy replied and then his hologram disappeared.
So we went three blocks east to Kentucky Road...
After a while of fighting, Joel and I were tired. "How old are you?" he asked me.
"I'm fifteen," I replied.
"Cool, I wanna be fifteen."
I laughed. "Why is that?"
"Well, um, I kind-of want to grow up," he explained.
"Yeah, me too. If you're older, you have more privileges, but if you're young, you can be more immature. So I don't want to grow up."
"Yeah... I guess so..." Joel stared into my eyes.
"What is it?" I asked.
"You're so much nicer than other fifteen-year-olds. I want to be like you."
"That's interesting." I kissed his forehead. "I hope you can be like me, too."
"Mary." Brandy stared at me.
"Yes?" I asked.
"You're being transferred to Greece."
My eyes widened. "What?"
"But it's only if it's okay with you."
"I have dreamed of going to Greece, so I wouldn't mind."
"Just... don't tell Joel, okay?"
"Okay." And then I left. I wondered why I couldn't tell Joel, but if it's the boss's orders, then I'll do it.
I made a turn and saw Joel reading a book.
"Hello," I said, sitting beside him.
"Hi," he replied. He just kept staring at me.
"Is something wrong?"
"I like you."
"What do you mean?"
"I like you. More than a friend. I think... I love you."
He stared into my eyes, and said the words "I love you" so delicately.
I felt my cheeks burning a bit. "I don't know what to say..." I whispered.
"You don't need to say anything." He went closer and closer to me. "I love you."
"I'm sorry!" I said and ran off.
As soon as I got to my bedroom, I started crying. There was a boy who loved me. And I couldn't accept just because I didn't want a long-distance relationship. Just because of that. I knew I loved him back. I just hated the fact that I had to leave him so soon after going to Brazil and back here.
"Please..." I whispered. I didn't know why, but I wanted something good to happen. Something that was better than what was happening.
On the day I was going to leave...
"Mary. I heard about what was going on." Joel stared into my eyes. "You're leaving?"
"Yes..." I whispered.
"Here." He handed me a slip of paper. It had his e-mail address. "We can e-mail each other while you're gone, and even when you're back."
"Joel...!" I ran into him and hugged him. "I...love you too..." I whispered into his ear.
And to this day, we e-mail each other every day. I just love him. I truly do.
Joel, I miss you. I love you. I want to see you again.
I hope I can see him soon.
A/N: So as usual my prequels have short chapters. Hopefully it's good enough. Thankies for reading!
