File 02 - Tyler - Doll

sticks and stones may break your bones, but names will never hurt you

I remember Mr. Aim telling me.

"Tyler. Sticks and stones may break your bones, but names will never hurt you. Don't listen to those boys. They just like to cause trouble. And you know why they're always calling you names?" Mr. Aim had said.

"Why?" I had asked.

"Because they're jealous of you."

Now I'm not so sure Mr. Aim was telling the truth.

"Hey! Unfit!"

"Look over here, Depressed!"

"Catch this, Chicken!"

They just want to make fun of me, right?

A ball came towards my face and I actually caught it. I hadn't done that in such a long time.

"Whoa! Mr. Unfit just caught a ball!"

"Depressed?! He just...?!"

"No way...! Chicken...!"

Then I threw it as hard as I could at the boy who called me chicken. It hit him in the face and it left a large bruise on his face.

"Owww!"

I glared at him and walked off.

it doesn't matter about who they are on the outside, what matters is who they are on the inside

That new girl, Mami. She's cute.

Her kind blue eyes sparkle, and her curly blonde hair bounces all the time.

But why is she dating the boy who called me "Depressed"? Sure, he might look like he's a nice guy, but he's the complete opposite. He's a jerk on the inside.

But then, all of a sudden, I heard words come from her mouth and to the guy who called me depressed.

"I'm sorry to say this, Bruce, but I've fell in love with someone else. So I'm breaking up with you."

Bruce (the guy who called me depressed) whispered "OK..." before Mami walked off.

Then Mami walked over to me. "Hi, Tyler."

I hadn't spoke in such a long time. All I ever did was sing. And when I wanted to talk, I never got to.

"Uhmmm... Hi," I replied. "Do you need something?"

All Mami did was smile. She tried to blink quickly, as if she was flirting with me. She even giggled.

"Bruce is such a jerk, don't you think?" she asked.

I nodded.

"I think so, too. It's just sad he bullies you all the time."

I looked down at the ground.

"No, no. Look at me." She put her index finger on my chin and got it to go up. Then I looked at her.

"W—What is it?" I inquired.

"Oh, I'm just thinking about how nice you are." She was still grinning. (That must be hurting her.) "And nice-looking, too."

At that, I blushed like crazy. "B—B—B—But it doesn't matter about how I loo—"

And then she kissed me.

When she stopped, she whispered, "The truth is, I like you. And not because of looks, Tyler. Even though those are nice, too.

"I like you because of who you really are."

just be you

"Tyler!" Tianna screamed.

"What, what? What did I do wrong?"

Tianna smiled. "You did nothing wrong, big brother. It's just, we have a visitor."

"Who is it?" I asked.

"Reese. And her cousin, Mami."

"Mami?!" I yelled. I brushed my hair as quickly as possible.

"Tyler? Is something wrong?" Tianna asked me.

I shook my head. "If it's who I think it is, I should be preparing myself!"

Then Tianna and I ran downstairs.

Mami stood there, with Reese (my twin sister Tam's best friend; I wonder where Tam is?).

"Tyler? What are you doing here?" Mami asked.

"He's Tammy's twin sister," Reese replied for me.

"Ohh. Well, it's nice to see you!" Mami exclaimed.

I smiled one of my rare smiles. It got Mami to become all red, and even Reese, for some reason, got carmine, too.

"He's so cute, don't you think?" Mami asked Reese.

Reese nodded and looked at me. She giggled. "You're being you!" she exclaimed. "That's great!"

I stopped smiling my rare smile and gave a shy one. "Y—Y—You think so?" I inquired.

Reese nodded. "Just be you, Tyler. More people will like you for who you are than for who you look like."

when in rome, do as the romans do

Now I'm visiting Reese's house for some reason. (I don't know why; Tam told me to.)

"Tyler. You came," Reese said. "How are you?"

"Uhm, I'm doing fine," I replied.

She took me to her room, and then pinned me onto her bed. "Reese?! What are you...?!"

"When in Rome, do as the Romans do," Reese murmured. "This is what happens at my house."

And then she got off of me. "Stay there!" she ordered.

"Okay, okay," I gave in.

Then she went and got me something special. Something I always wanted...

A recorder!

"Here," she said, handing it to me.

"Oh! Thank you! I've been wanting one for a while." I thought for a second. "What should I do to repay you?"

"Oh, I dunno..." I could tell she was smirking and was embarrassed. "...Play Seven Minutes In Heaven with me?"

All I could do was nod.

Everything is beyond reasoning.

At least, that's what I think.

Everything as a reason, sure. And some of them are pointless, just like my life.

I'm a doll.

I do what others want me to do. If they want me to die, okay then, I will. If they want me to kiss them, I'll do that too. And that's why...

I'm a doll.
