"God my back is killing me... Those beds are a nightmare..."

PJ mentally agreed with her brother. Last night was their first night in their dorms, and the beds were, to say the least, uncomfortable. PJ's roommate had been a tall blonde-haired girl named Summer Jones, who apparently had three other brothers and sisters- all of which had graduated already.

Derek's roommate was a guy named Dominic Jenson, though Derek had no clue who the person was. He hadn't been in the room at all.

The twins walked to the Hall for breakfast, and were momentarily shocked to see more people than there had been yesterday. Though, they supposed, they had been told the other day that some students did actually leave over the summer.

"Oh look, our two favorite people." Derek sighed, motioning toward the same table they'd sat at for lunch yesterday. Sure enough, Shannon and Anna were sitting there again.

"Derek, don't even think about it. She will kill you." PJ warned. Derek waved the warning off, snorting quietly as he walked toward the pair. PJ only shook her head, glancing around the room.

She spotted Summer at another table, with some other girls. And PJ couldn't help but to think that 'Summer' was a highly accurate name.

Summer was the very depiction of the season- sun-kissed skin, bleach blonde hair, blue eyes... PJ almost envied the girl.

At least until she heard Derek yelling her name.

"Peyton! Come here! How many times do I have to yell your name?"

Rolling her eyes, PJ made her way over to her brother and the two girls. "Yes, moron, can I help you?"

"Yeah, c'mon, sit down, relax! You looked awkward standing over there alone."

PJ glared slightly as she sat down, glancing over to Shannon and Anna before clearing her throat. "So um, do you guys know who Summer Jones is?"

Shannon snorted quietly, shaking her head. "Summer. She was in my gym class last year. She's got three other siblings- Autumn, Snow, and April. Each as annoying as the season they're named after."

"Uh-huh... And what about Dominic Jenson?" Derek asked. Anna rose an eyebrow, glancing around briefly before responding.

"Dominic... Is an odd person. He's relatively contradictory. However, he usually keeps to himself. It's very rare if he's seen in class."

Anna's voice was low, and somewhat hard to hear over the roaring noise in the Hall. PJ hoped she wasn't always that quiet.

Derek, however, felt the need to voice his concerns. "Are you always that quiet? I mean, seriously?"

Anna rose an eyebrow, leaning back in her chair. "If you'd like, I can speak softer."

Holding up his hands, Derek shook his head. "No, no, no thank you. Speak at the decibel you currently are."

Shannon smirked slightly before everyone's attention was gained by one of the doors to the Hall opened, and in walked a boy who looked to be around the twin's age. He had messy black hair, and even from a distance you could see his bright green eyes- almost like they were glowing.

"Hey Chance." Shannon called. The boy, 'Chance', looked over, nodding to her before walking toward them. He stopped behind Anna's chair, putting his hands on her shoulders.

"That's Chancelor. Or Chance." Shannon introduced, "That's PJ and her twin brother Ignoramus."

"Ha ha, very funny. I bet you think I don't know what that word means." Derek sneered back, crossing his arms over his chest. Shannon only smiled sweetly as she tilted her head.

"Honey, you're at least seventeen. I would be worried if you didn't know what it meant."

Chancelor laughed at the altercation, shaking his head slightly before addressing the twins. "As you can see, these two are... Rather interesting." he commented. Derek snorted, and PJ would've too, if not for Chancelor's mouth distracting her.

His teeth seemed oddly shaped. Sharp, almost. Though PJ knew that was impossible. Well, without some sort of modification.

She narrowed her eyes slightly, and Chancelor noticed, closing his mouth and smiling tightly. "Anyway, you two new here?"

"Yeah, we're from Massachusetts." Derek replied.

"Ah, East Coast. How'd your parents find out about Darkwood?"

The twins shrugged simultaneously, causing Chancelor's eyebrows to twitch downward before he smiled again. An almost imperceptible change in emotion.

"Well, I'm sure you'll like it here. Where are your rooms?"

"Hall four. PJ is in room 116, I'm in room 216." Derek answered. Shannon looked over to Chancelor with another innocent smile.

"Ignoramus here is with Dominic Jenson."

Derek frowned slightly as Chancelor's jaw twitched, and his fingers closed tightly around Anna's shoulders. "Oh? Jenson?" he asked through gritted teeth. Anna rolled her eyes slightly while Shannon's smile only widened.

"Oh relax. No one's seen him for weeks." Anna murmured. Chancelor glared slightly before relaxing his grip on her, sighing quietly as he looked to the twins.

"Stay away from him, alright? He's not exactly the type of person you'd want to associate with."

Typical high school, PJ thought, everyone's part of their own little clique. She refrained from rolling her eyes as a voice came on over what she assumed was a loudspeaker.

"Attention all students, you're school supplied and uniforms have been delivered to your dormitory rooms. Classes will begin the following Monday at 8:00 AM sharp. Thank you."

Ford's voice shut off suddenly with a click, and the Hall was filled with the regular noise again.

"You two should probably see which classes you have later. Some of them can get pretty weird." Chancelor advised.

"Yes, because the placement and décor of this place wasn't weird enough." Derek mumbled, earning himself a solid kick from PJ under the table. She smiled in satisfaction as he groaned.

"Let's see... Eight periods." PJ mumbled, glancing over her schedule. Derek sat across from her on her bed, leaning against the headboard as he looked at her uniforms.

"Ha! You have to wear a skirt!" he laughed, pulling out a pleated black skirt. PJ rolled her eyes at him before looking to see her classes.

PD 1 AMERICAN LIT 8:00-9:00 AM

"English. Easy enough." she mumbled to herself.

PD 2 ALGEBRA 2 9:10-10:10 AM

PD 3 CHEMISTRY 10:20-11:20 AM

PD 4 AMERICAN HISTORY 11:30 AM-12:30 PM

LUNCH

PD 5 SUPERNATURAL STUDIES 1:10-2:10 PM

… Wait...

"Uh, Derek?" PJ asked, glancing over to her brother. Who had on one of her skirts over his jeans, looking at himself in the mirror.

"You know, I don't think it's my color..." he commented. She rolled her eyes, throwing one of her shoes at him.

"Pay attention. What is 'Supernatural Studies'?"

"Uh, obviously the study of the Supernatural. Duh."

He wasn't getting it. She shook her head, looking to see the rest of her periods.

PD 6 MYTHOLOGY 2:20-3:20 PM

PD 7 PHYSICAL EDUCATION & HEALTH 3:30-4:30 PM

PD 8 SORCERY & ARCANIAN MAGIC 4:40:-5:40 PM

"Whoa, whoa, whoa... Okay... What in the hell is this?" PJ exclaimed, jumping from her bed and walking over to Derek to show him her schedule. "What is this? 'Arcanian Magic'? 'Mythology'? … What?"

"Oh hey, we have seventh period together!" Derek replied with a small smile. PJ groaned, rolling up the paper and smacking his head with it. "Ow! Hey! Mom said no hitting!"

"I don't care, you're being an idiot." PJ said with a glare, unrolling her schedule to look at it again. "What kind of... Why do we have classes like this? First off, 'Supernatural Studies'? Really? It's pointless. I'm not even going to start on the 'Arcanian Magic'!"

"Who knows, maybe they're just into some dark stuff or something."

PJ sighed, putting one hand on her hip. "I don't get this place. I really don't."

"Attention all students. Everyone must be in their dormitory by 10:00 PM sharp, starting Monday. Anyone found outside of their dorm after that hour will face disciplinary actions. Thank you."

"I wonder what classes Shannon and Anna have..." Derek mumbled offhandedly, removing PJ's skirt and putting his hands on his hips. PJ nearly slapped him, but settled for sighing her irritation out instead.

"Are you not getting this? Why do we have these classes? Why is this place so secluded? And why in the hell is everyone so weird?"

"PJ, relax, you're thinking into things way too much." her brother replied. She rolled her eyes that time, sitting on her bed.

"This place makes me uncomfortable, Derek. Can you at least act like you have some form of common sense? For five minutes?"

"Gee, I don't know... Five minutes is a long time..."

"Fine, you know what? Forget it."

Derek sighed quietly as PJ shoved her schedule into one of the drawers in her nightstand, getting off the bed again and leaving the room. "Aw, c'mon P! Don't be so me-"

A shrill scream cut Derek off, making him cringe before running over to see what it was. PJ remained in front of the doorway, frozen as he tried to shove her out of his way. "PJ, dude, what the... Hell..."

In front of the twins were two figures against the wall, one of them still screaming loudly, though they slowly got quiet before the noise died off completely. The other person sighed quietly, leaning away and bringing a hand up to their mouth.

When they turned and saw the twins, PJ gasped quietly. The newcomer had bright red eyes, that seemed to glow in the dim light of the hallway. They dropped their hand, and PJ nearly screamed when she saw it.

The hand was dripping with a bright red liquid.

Blood.
