"Ryouko-chan! Ryouko-chan!", Yui exclaimed.
"Watch out or else you'll fall!", Himiko said as she pulled Yui.
"But! But, we have to save her!", Yui exclaimed.
Himiko pulled Yui closer to her, "She's the Elique, I know that she'll survive even this kind of fall."
"But! She's…", just then Izumi was calling out to them.
"Himi-chan! Where are you?", Izumi called, "Yah! Are you hiding from me?"
"I'm coming, we were just admiring the view.", Himiko replied and then she pulled Yui, "Let's go Yui-senpai, your beloved Kyou-senpai is waiting for you. Stop worrying about Ryouko-chan, she will be okay." , the only thing that Yui did was nod and followed Himiko.
"Oi! Where have you been? You could get killed here!", Izumi started lecturing Himiko.
"Were you worried for me?", Himiko asked.
Izumi's face turned red and he looked away, "O—of course not, who would be worried for you anyways?"
Yui covered her mouth, "It worked."
Himiko smiled at her, "I told you so."
"Ah! There you are Yui-chan!", Kyou said, "Where have you been? I was starting to get worried; it's really dangerous out here."
Yui smiled and started to jump up and down, "It really worked! It really really worked."
Izumi just stared at Yui, "Is she okay?"
"Yeah, she's totally fine.", Himiko replied and then she held Izumi's hand, "Let's go ne?"
Izumi could feel his heart beating fast and his face was turning even more red, "O..okay."
Himiko bit her lip, "Yah~ Yuki Izumi are you blushing?"
"No! I'm not!", Izumi answered trying to hide his embarrassment, "Why would I blush anyway?"
"Because I'm holding your hand.", Himiko teased.
"Anou, Yui-chan where's your bag? Let me carry it for you.", Kyou said as he placed his hand around Yui's shoulder, "Let's go? Watch your step, it very rocky around these parts."
Yui's face flushed red and she nodded, "Okay, please take care of me."
They headed on, they came across a big mushroom in the middle of the forest, in curiosity Kyou and Izumi examined it.
"Stay away, it might be dangerous for you Himi-chan.", Izumi said as he signaled Himiko to back away.
Kyou looked into the mushroom, "It's totally empty.", just then Yui suddenly screamed.
"Kyaaaaaaaaa!", Yui exclaimed in fear, there was tongue wrapped around her right leg. She was unable to use her powers because of fear, "Please help me!"
"Yui-chan!", Kyou exclaimed, he gritted his teeth and used his fire power, "Kasai Basuto!", a big fire ball hit the toad which caused its death, Kyou immediately came to Yui's side and removed the remains of the monster from her leg, "It's okay, I'm here now."
Yui hugged Kyou and started to sob, "Thank you so much for saving me."
"Let's hurry up, it's dangerous in here.", Izumi said and then he grabbed Himiko by hand, "Hurry up."
They continued to walk, the big mushrooms doubled in number as they kept on going further, and they can hear strange noises following them.
"An invisible spell, we can use it to pass through the forest safely.", Kyou said, "Remember it Yui-chan? We learned it from class."
"Ah, yes! I remember it quite well.", Yui replied.
"Azamuku Ai!", Kyou chanted and in an instance he disappeared from everyone's vision, "Do it as well, you have to chant 'azamuku ai'."
The other three did what Kyou said and they became invisible, they headed on. They were starting to calm down, when suddenly they heard a loud croak, they turned around just to find out that they were in a toad nesting ground.
"We have to stay silent.", Kyou said in a soft voice.
"I'm scared.", Yui said and she held onto Kyou's shoulder.
"Let's fly to the nearest village.", Izumi suggested.
Himiko and Kyou shook their heads, "I can't fly.", they said in unison.
"Well, I'll carry Himi-chan and Yui-san can carry Kyou…", Izumi didn't finish his sentence, "No, no, I'll carry Kyou-senpai and Yui-chan will carry Himi-chan. Is that okay?"
All of them agreed, they flew up and got away from the toad nest.
"Ah, you're so heavy.", Izumi ranted.
"Tsk, you just wanted to touch Himiko-san that's why you're complaining.", Kyou teased Izumi.
"Oi! As if you don't want to do the same thing with Yui-senpai.", Izumi teased, taunting Kyou by pretending to drop him.
"Okay, you win, don't drop me.", Kyou exclaimed.
"So, are you and Yui-senpai going out?", Izumi asked, "I know I'm poking into someone else's business so you can ignore my question if you like."
Kyou shook his head, "I haven't confessed yet."
"Eh? You sure are slow."
Kyou looked at Izumi with doubting eyes, "How about you? Did you already confess to Himiko-san?"
"No.", Izumi admitted, "I'm never given the chance to do so, and she's always hanging out with someone…what was her name again? Yama…Yamami Kyouka…I'm not sure."
"And here I thought you guys were already dating."
"If you help me confess, I'll help you too. Sounds nice eh?", Izumi offered with a grin on his face.
Kyou nodded, "Deal."
"Look there's a village over there.", Himiko said pointing to what seems to be a market.
"Let's get down.", Kyou said. They went down and as soon as they landed, everyone was staring at them with awe, it was like they saw a ghost or something.
"Do we look scary?", Himiko whispered into Izumi's ear.
"I don't think so."
"Who are those weird people?", the villagers murmured, they were piercing them with suspicious stares, some of the villagers even asked their children to get inside their house.
"Maybe they're the knights sent by the Edo Empire to kill us all.", a man exclaimed pointing his knife at them, "We must kill them before they kill us!"
An old man then intervened, examined them and exclaimed, "The legendary warriors, they're not the ones that killed most of our fellowmen the other day, maybe they're the warriors sent by the gods to protect the Heian Empire."
The villagers kept on murmuring still giving them murderous looks, "Touji-sama how sure are you that they won't kill us? And why will we believe an old man like you?", a villager asked, "They're capable of using elemental power, we're mere ants to them."
"What should we do?", Yui asked Kyou.
Himiko stared at her feet and thought to herself, "If only Ryouko-chan is here, she'll charm these villagers with her beauty and this debate will be over."
"Ah! The robes, maybe if we show it to them they won't think of us as harmful people.", Kyou suggested taking out the robe form his bag, "This is proof that we're not evil!", he said holding the robe onto the air.
The villagers gasped, "The seal of the Keai Knights.", they said in unison and got down to their knees and kneeled before them, "We're deeply sorry for any violent treatment that we have shown you."
"Please accept these vegetables!"
"No, accept these fruits and you can stay over our humble home.", the villagers offered.
"These people change their minds so easily.", Himiko whispered to Yui and she nodded in agreement.
"Have you met the emperor?", elder Touji asked them.
"No, it's our first time coming here, we don't even know where we are.", Izumi said moving his hair away from his face.
"Ah, this is the Heian Empire, it occupies the northern and eastern borders of the whole country.", Touji replied pointing towards the horizon, "If you head west from here, you'll reach the palace after a day or so and if you take the path to where you came from it is said that you'll reach the palace of the Oracle Shin."
"I'll be delivering my crops to civilization tomorrow, I'll be more than happy to assist the Keai Knights in going to the palace.", a villager volunteered.
"My home is more than open for you to stay in.", Youji offered smiling at them, "Rest for a while to get ready for your journey tomorrow."
The Keai Knights headed to Touji's home, "But who among these people is the descendant of Amaterasu?", he asked himself.
In the depths of the forest, Ryouko lies in the riverside, unconscious, as if she was lifeless. She got bruises all over her body, and a broken arm, her belongings drifted ashore. A young man in pure-white clothing and golden hair, he looked like some sort of royalty from the ancient times. He crept nearer to Ryouko and stroked her face, "My, my what a beautiful face, it's a pity to see her like this.", he said carrying Ryouko in his arms and then he signaled his pet fox to help him, "Kiyo, could you kindly help me and bring her belongings.", the fox did as he said and then they headed to the mountainous part of the Heian Empire.
They arrived in a place that looks like a palace of the ancient times sitting at the top of the mountain, there were numerous waterfalls to be seen, the place had an unnatural glow in it. The man kept on walking 'till he reached a spacious room with a big mirror in it, "Kiyo, could you get some clothes for this beautiful lady?", he said to his pet fox, starting to undress Ryouko when he noticed the seal of the Keai Knight in her robe, "She's a Keai Knight eh?", he continued with his business and when his finger touched Ryouko's crystal, he felt something different, "Could it be possible? Is this girl the descendant of Amaterasu?"
The fox came back with a robe in his mouth, the man started chanting some words and he started glowing, he touched Ryouko's crystal and soon enough all her wounds were healed,
"I hope she gets better. Come on Kiyo we should leave her alone for a while, aren't you hungry?", they left the robe beside Ryouko and went to get something to eat.
Hours passed and Ryouko started to gain consciousness, she slowly opened her and felt like something was licking her, "Eh? What is that?", then she heard an unfamiliar voice.
"Kiyo, stop that you'll startle her.", the man said patting the head of his pet fox.
After realizing that she was naked she grabbed the robe and placed it around her, "Ah, what happened to me?"
"I saw you at the forest, at the river bank, I thought you were dying that's why I brought you here.", the man said offering his hand to help Ryouko stand up, "Let me introduce myself, I am the Oracle Shin."
Shin, the Oracle that lives in the mountains of the Heian Empire, he has golden hair and brown eyes. No person could set foot in his palace without his approval; he has been alive for millions of years; he is said to be the lover of the god Amaterasu, who sacrificed her life to save the Heian Empire. Many magicians and pursuers have been searching for his palace, because he is renowned as the person who knows all about magic.
"I'm Yamada Ryouko.", Ryouko replied with a bow.
"Who were you with when you came here?"
Ryouko started to think but her mind was blank, "I…I can't remember, maybe I came here alone?", she kept on shaking her head, "Why can't I remember anything? What happened to me?"
"Do you remember where you came from?", Shin asked comforting the no confused Ryouko.
Ryouko shook her head, "No, I don't remember anything.", looking as calm as ever.
Shin then took the robe and showed it to her, "This belongs to you, do you know it's purpose?", he asked.
"Uhh…it prevents you from being naked?", Ryouko answered.
Shin laughed, "You are indeed amusing."
"I'm hungry, can I please have some food?", Ryouko asked.
Shin nodded, "But, if you want to know who you really are you we could always ask help from the gods. And that piece of sack or something over there belongs to you.", he said while pointing to Ryouko's bag on the floor as he left.
Ryouko checked the contents of the bag, as she picked every content inside the bag she tried to rekindle memories of it, but it was useless leaving her disappointed more than ever, "Why can't I remember? Am I cursed or something?", she gave up on trying to remember anything and wandered around the palace.
She kept on walking 'till she came across a garden on fire, "Oh no! The flowers are burning!", she exclaimed running over to the flowers and she controlled the fire using her powers, "Ah, who was that person again? He should take care of his flowers.", with a touch from her the burnt flowers came back to life, "There there, flowers, you're all okay now.", she said while watering the flowers.
"I'm impressed.", Shin said clapping his hands, "Despite the curse, you're still able to use your powers."
Ryouko came up to him and hit him in his shoulder, "Yah, Tentacle-san you should take good care of your garden, it's a pity to see nature suffering."
Shin chuckled, "I'll remember that, and my name is Shin and I'm not a tentacle, I am the Oracle."
"Good.", she said and gave him a pat in the back.
"She said tentacle, I'm a tentacle.", Shin said laughing by himself.
Weeks passed, Shin started to teach Ryouko about magic, as he explained to her the duties and responsibilities of a Keai Knight, he took no consideration on Ryouko being a girl as he kept on giving her rigorous training. He even offered her an opportunity to gain back her memories but she refused, saying that she'll discover who she really is by herself. And in the mainland of the Heian Empire, they're were celebrating the arrival of the Keai Knights, Izumi and the others were treated like royalty, they were now residing at the Imperial Palace together with the emperor's two sons who were Keai Knights as well. Though the Keai Knights were assembled they were still waiting for the arrival of the Hoshinojo, the descendant of the god Amaterasu.
Shin and Ryouko were finishing up with the training, "Ah, I'm so tired.", Ryouko said with a blank expression.
"I really don't get you, you say you're tired but your face doesn't show it at all.", Shin commented.
Ryouko pouted and widened her nostrils, "Now, do I look tired?"
Shin laughed, "Please stop that, you're killing me with that look.", he said as he kept on laughing.
Ryouko lied down on the grass and sighed, "Ah, I want to sleep."
Shin then extended his arm to Ryouko, giving her a small, "Here, take it."
"What is it?", she asked taking a peek at the bag, "Seeds?"
Shin nodded, "They're rose seeds, I would like to entrust them to you."
"Oh, nice. I'll totally plant this when I get back to my own world.", she said as she placed the seeds in her pocket.
"Those are not for planting, they're me.", Shin said.
"Eh?", Ryouko frowned in confusion, "You're a seed?"
Shin chuckled, "No, I'm not a seed. I breath my life force into these seeds, and if something happens like me getting killed, all you have to do is plant those seeds, and when the first flower blooms I'll come back to life."
Ryouko frowned even more, "Are you trying to say goodbye?"
Shin shook his head, "No…I just trust you a lot."
"Oh, okay. I'll keep this seeds with me."
"Have you packed your bags? You do know that sooner or later, you'll have to meet the other Keai Knights."
"Am I ready for that responsibility?", Ryouko asked, "I mean how can I be represented as the person who will save everyone, when I don't even know who I really am."
Shin patted her head, "You'll know sooner or later. Now go on pack your bags."
Ryouko left to pack her bags cheerfully, without knowing that Shin foresaw that he would be killed that day by the knights from the Edo Empire. Shin went over to talk to his pet, "Kiyo, please watch over her and the palace ne? I'll be gone for a while; the knights from the Edo Empire will be coming soon."
"There, I think I'm all packed.", Ryouko said patting herself in the back, and then she heard some unfamiliar voices from outside, "Eh? Do we have visitors? He didn't tell me we'll be having visitors.", she ran outside only to see that someone ran a sword through Shin, "SHIN-SENSEI! NOOOOOOO!"
The evil knights that were beating Shin, ended up to be Teru and Haru, students from Zannin Gakuen, and two of the knights from the Edo Empire, "Eh? Ryouko-san is that you?", Teru said.
"Ryouko-san run away now and go to the mainland.", Shin exclaimed instructing his fox to take Ryouko away, "Go now!"
"Shut up old man!", Haru said ending Shin's life by piercing his sword on Shin's head.
"NO!", Ryouko exclaimed, her eyes darkened as well as the surroundings, "Why did you kill him?!", she was about to attack them but the fox lifted her up and took her away.
"We have to go now.", Kiyo suddenly said.
'Eh? You can talk?", Ryouko asked in shock.
"Shin-sama, gave me the ability to talk for me to be able to communicate with you.", Kiyo said.
"Ryouko-chan!", Teru exclaimed over and over again.
Ryouko gasped, "Why does he know me? How can someone so evil know who I am.", she thought to herself and then jumped off Kiyo.
"Where are you going Ryouko-sama?! We have to go now or else they're going to take you!", Kiyo exclaimed.
"I have to get my necklace!", Ryouko dashed to her room and picked up the necklace that Izumi gave her, "I don't have an idea where this necklace came from, but I treasure it a lot."
Kiyo fetched Ryouko and they headed for the mainland, Ryouko was sulking and she kept on sighing, "Don't worry, everything will be all right.", Kiyo said reassuring the worried Ryouko.
"But, Shin-sensei is dead. I have all this powers and yet I wasn't able to help him.", Ryouko said.
"You do have the seeds he gave right?", Kiyo asked.
"Ah! Yes! I do have them with me.", Ryouko exclaimed rummaging through her bag, "All I have to do is plant these ne?", Kiyo agreed with her, Ryouko's sadness was wiped away with the thought that her master will be alive again as soon as the first flower blooms. More than anything else, she was worried as to why the evil knights knew her, "Maybe they're part of the memories that I've forgotten.", she thought to herself as she fell asleep.
"Wake up, Ryouko-sama, we're in the Imperial Palace now.", Kiyo said licking Ryouko's face.
When Ryouko opened her eyes, she was welcomed by the enormous palace before her, the streets were bustling with vendors and men on bicycles, she stood up and walked over to the gates of the imperial palace, but guards stopped her from coming in.
"What is your business here?", the guards said in unison, "You cannot enter without the permission of the emperor!"
"Eh? Why? I won't harm anyone.", Ryouko said.
"Please state your identity and your business here.", the guard exclaimed.
"Why? Tell me your identity first and I'll tell you mine to make it fair.", Ryouko complained.
"I repeat! Please state your business here!", the angry guard said.
Ryouko sighed, "I am the descendant of Amaterasu."
