She waited in the rain for him
She waited in the rain
It pitter-pattered against her face
And stabbed her eyes in pain
She stood with no umbrella in hand
She stood there soaking wet
The water drenching through her clothes
In the place where they first met
She forgot about the anger
She forgot about her hate
And all she remembered was the love she had
For her one and her only mate
She stood there in hunger
She stood there through her thirst
And hoped that he would come back for her
Hoped he'd love her first
You see, there was another
But she stood in the heat
With his eyes looking down on her
In the place where they did meet
He forgot about his first
He forgot that she would wait
He forgot in time that she had a name
But he sadly saw her fate
A shadow was hiding in the rain
It watched her and it waited too
And when no one came to comfort her
It took that as its cue
And so her hunger devoured her
And her thirst drank up her life
And her heart hurt her more and more
Until Death saved her from strife
He held an umbrella over her head
And led her into the dark
And her mate watched from his happy new place
As they did forever part
