Silence swirls around me,

like a cloud of smoke;

Memories wrap his thick hands

around my thin throat,

squeezing tightly.

Thrashing and gasping,

my eyes roll to the back of my head;

A single memory rises to the surface,

lifting my lithe body;

I remember.
