As I sat in the dingy, filthy cell that had housed me for the past two days, I wondered how I, the greatest thief in the world, finally got caught.

Don't get me wrong, I remember every detail, even the icy blue eyes of the guard in the watch tower over one hundred meters away. But I'm Lacey Bellaqua, and as a rule, I don't get caught.

Then again, what can one expect when you try and rob the queen of England?

It was a bitterly cold night, and with the absence of the moon, the perfect night for a little thieving. I walked into Queen Mary's castle with my head held high, like I owned the place, and the guards let me pass, naturally assuming I was coming for Mary's birthday party. In my puffy gown and pointy shoes, I was one of them as I danced with a duke and gossiped with a princess. No one would have guessed my true intention.

In fact, as I crept up to the Queens bedchamber, I was just another shadow in the dark. There was no one around to stop me, so you can imagine my surprise when I walked out of the Queens rooms with a diamond necklace around my neck and found myself on the sharp ends of a dozen swords.

So now you know why I'm on a stupid boat in the middle of a stupid ocean in a stupid cell wearing a stupid dress. Well, I was actually sentenced to death, but the King was 'lenient' and sent me to Australia.

Oh well, it's been fun, but I've got to get back to plotting my escape. See you back in England, because I will be in England, not Australia.
