As dawn breaks we begin a new story,

As the night bleeds we raise a voice in calling.

The Legion rises, cries of despair sounding,

Their former comrades through the wails rising,

On the wings of that fleeting glory.

Through a misty roof are the traitors bounding,

Through the gaps sunlight descending,

Shining on the faces of the yearning.

The rush of that ascent, so fierce, so burning,

As they fly,

On the wings of that fleeting glory.

Rushing through the sky,

In their ears the wind roaring,

Over the clouds those traitors soaring,

On the wings of that fleeting glory.

Burning through the sky in a trail of fire,

Outshining the stars, ascending a glowing spire,

And truth comes,

On the wings of that fleeting glory.

Their eyes turn down to see the faces,

A featureless Legion returns their gaze,

Behind their eyes, blank and glazed,

Burns a fire of unquenchable fury.

Seeking forgiveness,

Their cries unreturned,

They struggle to escape,

From the wings of that fleeting glory.

It slowly dawns, and then they learn.

The fire is real, and fierce it burns,

They struggle to escape,

From a burning embrace,

From the wings of that fleeting glory.

And with a final tear,

And a rain of ash,

Ends this story.
