Waking up is the start of our lives, experiencing its thrill, so why not write something about it?

Waking Up

Sleepy eyes open
Limbs stretch dormant muscles
Another day starts

Lay still for a minute
Mind searches for the days' needed tasks
Wondering about dreams

Mental wings flex open
Ready to take flight for what is offered
Available: On

Legs swing over edge
Feet touchdown on the wood floor
Slight wince from the cold

Body walks out of room
Not just leaving a cozy domain
Also safety for thrills

Dreams are safe haven
Shelter us from the real demons
Real life's a jungle
