War is full of misery

It spread its icy fingers

Clutching at lonely hearts

It travels at speed

Leaving a trail of destruction

A heavy cloud of despair hangs

Above the heads of the unfortunate soldiers

War breathes sadness among the bereaved

It tears down communities

In a hungry rage

Leaving many to perish

And the survivors

To live on with a heavy heart

Never to be the same again

War is the reason this world is never at peace

It lives on to this day

It shows its ugly face at every opportunity

Seizing the vulnerable and the kind-hearted

Testing the strong one's strength

And although it may seem to have gone away

Somewhere in the world

While you read these words

War is raging.
