I didn't see Leonidas for the rest of the day or the next day in school. After my last class, I decided I wouldn't wait for him. If he was there, fine, but I wouldn't waste my time waiting. I guessed he would probably wait outside. So after my last lesson, I was walking towards the school entrance, when Darren appeared right beside me. „Hey Lys! What are you doing now? You got any plans? With somebody special?" Merrily I shook my head. What if Leonidas wouldn't be there? It would look like he stood me up. That couldn't happen. So officially I hadn't planned anything. Although I really hoped, that Leonidas would be outside of this doors, because right now Darren was going on my nerves. He had heard about my ‚date' yesterday, hadn't he? So why did he ask? This was none of his business. Was he jealous?
„So you are not going to meet this new guy?", Darren asked suspicious. So he was jealouse… Great. I sighed. Liora wouldn't like that at all. I decided not to tell her. She would just get upset. „Don't you have basketball training?". I guess, I sounded a little bit harsh. Darren looked hurt and shrugged his shoulders. „Sorry", he mumbled. Then he turned away to find his basketball buddies, I suppose. Relieved I continued my way to the entrance.
I reached the door, opened the door, went out of the door, looked around and… He wasn't there. This little sucker had really stood me up. Should I wait? No, this was not an option. I kept walking. I couldn't help myself, but to feel a little sad. I mean, he had been the one, who had suggested this, not me. Why wasn't he here? Was he sick? After all, he hadn't been in school. Or maybe he had found somebody better to show him the town. Was there anybody better than me? No, couldn't be.
Deep in thoughts I stept to the street. Barking squeaked. I screamed and squeezed my eyes shut. This was my end. Oh god, I hoped my mother would buy me a nice dress for my funeral. Something black and tight. Hopefully the car wouldn't smash my head. And hopefully… Wait! Why didn't I fell anything? Slowly I opened one eye. The car had stopped only a few inches in front of me. I sighed in relief. I wouldn't die today. And I could tell my mother exactly which hairstyle I wanted for my funeral.
The car door banged. Apparently the driver had gotten out oft he car. I turned towards him. And stared. And stared. The driver gave me an adorable smile. „I'm really sorry, but I was already late for our little date and I didn't see you. Are you alright, Ms Keyten?"
Yes, it was Leonidas. And although he just had almost killed me, I wasn't angry or scared. I couldn't help myself. My heart raced. My knees chattered. I was already in love with this gorgeous human being.
Damn it.
