A Few New Tricks
Raiyo has left his two students Darek and Josh alone in the forest for over the span of three months. Time is running out, as the gang now only has six months before the invasion. Darek has been pushing Josh to his limit, but will it be enough?
"Come on Josh," Darek said. "Don't tell me this is best you can do."
Josh leaned his back against a tree, sweating and panting heavily. "No," he paused to take a breath. "I'm far from done." He said while rushing at Darek, only to get kicked, sending him flying back towards the tree.
"Wanna try that again?" Darek said in a jokingly matter.
"Nope, i'm done." Josh sat down in anger and walked over to comfort his friend. "What makes you guys so strong?"
"A lot of training and hard work. If you do it to, you'll be just as good as me at fighting."
"That doesn't explain Jakel. He's completely lazy."
Darek sighed. "I don't know. Trying to understand that boy is impossible. But that's not the point. If you just continue training, than you will be just as strong as us."
"Ever since we've gotten into this forest, i've been training with you. And it doesn't feel like i've gotten any stronger"
"It takes time. Before this is over, you'll be just like me and Jakel." Darek got up, picking up his heavy sword. "Anyway, it's about time for me to go find some food. I'll be right back." Darek said, leaving his friend behind.
Josh decided that this was a perfect time for a well deserved break, and soon he found himself dozing off. Deep into his slumber, he hadn't noticed the danger lurking into the camp. Yawning and stretching, he opened his eyes.
"Huh," He said to himself. "Darek isn't back yet." It was late at night, and too dark for him to be leaving camp, but he was curious and wondered where his friend was. It was pitch black outside, and he couldn't see a thing. But that didn't stop him. Josh wandered aimlessly, feeling for trees or anything familiar, and soon found himself getting deeper into the forest. This soon became a bad idea, as he heard a heavy growl as he felt something.
"Hello?" He whispered, hoping it to be something friendly. He was met with another growl, this one out of annoyance. He slowly turned around and started to make his way back to the camp. He carefully walked away, avoiding any contact. He couldn't see a thing, and he didn't want to touch anything that would risk making a sound. It seemed like that he was gonna make it easily. But then, gun shots were heard, and they sound pretty close.
The creature that let out a growl earlier, stood up from its slumber, and let out a huge roar. There was something about the roar though. It almost sounded like the creature was in pain. Josh got a closer inspection, and saw that the source of the roar was from a full grown bear. Another gunshot was heard, this time causing the beast to collapse.
"That was a close one kid." Josh heard a voice call out. Someone stood over the dead bear. Josh couldn't see him completely, but he could tell that the person was tall and impending.
"It's pitch black out here, but you took that thing down with no problem." Josh said.
"A good shooter doesn't rely on his sighting, he has to sense the right moment. You alone out here kid?"
"Well as of right now, yes."
The man tossed something a Josh, two things to be exact. "You'll need those."
"What did you give me?" Josh asked while picking them up.
"You're all alone out here, so you need to have a way to protect yourself. I gave you some pistols, I hope you know how to use a gun."
"What are you, crazy or something? I'm way too young to be using this."
"Well, when your fighting for your life, just think about that." The man talking to Josh turned around and began to leave.
"Wait!" Josh stopped him in his tracks. "I don't think I got your name."
"Why does it matter to you? It's not like you're going to see me again." The man replied, leaving Josh..
Josh stood with a blank expression on his face. Then he heard rustling coming from nearby. He pointed his new weapons towards the source of the sound. "Who's there?" He called out.
"J-Josh?" A voice called out. Josh lowered his guns, recognizing the voice. The rustling ceased, and the voice was revealed as Darek's.
"What took you so long?" Josh asked in a jokingly manner.
"I got carried away while hunting," Darek replied. "Anyway, I heard gun shots coming from here, and I rushed over to see what was going on." Darek noticed a dead bear near him, and Josh holding two pistols. "Josh, what happened here?"
Josh looked down and stared at the dead bear. He then looked and stared at his new guns. "It's nothing to worry about Darek, nothing at all."
Meanwhile in Heaven
"You have to do better than that!" The Exorcist yelled out, elbowing Jakel hard in his face, causing him to fly back. The Exorcist tried to catch his breath. "Your defense is weak!"
Jakel got up quickly, panting heavily with one eye open. He rushed The Exorcist, preparing to attack. "Aura Assault!" Jakel's blue aura appeared his body, as he punched The Exorcist in the gut. This caused The Exorcist to stagger for a bit, and then receive a flurry of kicks to the stomach and some to the face. Jakel ended this attack by kneeing him in the gut.
"It seems like your defense is weak." Jakel said jokingly.
The Exorcist stopped holding his gut and stood up straight. "Is that so? Care to try that again?"
"If you can handle it." Jakel's aura appeared once again. But this time when he tried his attack, The Exorcist had something up his sleeve.
"Now! Force Gale!" The Exorcist yelled out while, moving his fist in a punching motion, causing Jakel to fly back, once again.
This time, instead of Jakel being angry or annoyed, he was actually pretty amazed.
"Woah! That was amazing!" He ran over to his master, on his knees. "That new technique, can you please teach me how to do that?"
"I knew that would be your reaction. Now let me ask you something. Do you know anything about the Elemental Gods?
Jakel scratched his head. "Not a clue."
"That move I just used on you was a move from the god of wind."
"So... will you teach it to me?"
"Yes, I don't know what you would do without this. It's primarily a defensive move, and with that defense you have, you're gonna need it."
Jakel was a little jumpy and excited. "Ok, ok. I'm ready to learn it now!"
"Well, sorry to break your heart Jakel, but I not teaching it to you today."
Jakel's happiness was immediately deflated. "What?"
"If you learned everything in one sitting, then you would be too exhausted. Don't worry Jakel, you have enough time to learn everything. It's time to call it a break."
Jakel stood silent for a while. "Alright, I fine with that."
"That's the spirit. Now come on, let's take a break."
"Ok... hey, do you think that one whole year will be enough training?"
"Trust me Jakel, when i'm done with, you will be a powerful warrior."
