the pain rippled through her heart, if only's ran through her mind. if only she hadn't seen him that day.. if only he hadn't liked her...if only ishe had been #1... not 701... she'd be happy.

It was a beautiful day
In the time of King Solomon
When the sun was shining brightly over
Nathan, the Hittites home,
This man was very blessed
To have seven sons and one daughter,
He always told his sons
"Respect and protect your sister Jezebel"
Jezebel was a very pretty maiden
She looked just like her mother,
Her father, Nathan was proud to have
At least one simple and humbled daughter,
Since his wife died during childbirth
Jezebel become a mother to her siblings
Caring for them just like her mother,
And caring for her little brothers,
Same as everyday in the morning
Jezebel got up early an went to get water from the well,
On her way there she would debate with herself
What to make for morning meal,
Gathering at the well
She chatted with the other women, who were already married,
Now past marring age
She longed to have a family of her own,
As she was walking home sad of her current state
What a surprise it was to her eyes
To see the king
And not just hear about him,
She watched him from a distance, before he noticed her and smiled
Jezebel never felt this warm before,
Her heart beat quicken, feelings overpowering her, she smiled shyly back
Never had she experience a man looking at her that way the king was,
The king watched her walk, how she took her step
He didn't look away till she closed her door at his gaze,
She felt it was important to tell her father
So she quickly got the morning meal down
Smiling widely as her father came in
Kissing him on the check
He smiled at her before kissing her back
As he'd done in the past,
He looked at her before noticing the joy in her eyes
"What causes your joy my daughter?"
She smiled, "oh father, today I saw the king and he watched me walk all the way home."
Turning to the fire she didn't notice her father reaction,
Nathans smile faded, "my daughter, my only daughter…"
He mumbled sitting down, tears in his eyes,
Jezebel didn't see her father's tear's, as she placed the food on the table,
Her brothers' walked in, smelling the food,
Jezebel smiled and looked at her father
Finally seeing his tears and grief stricken features gasped "Father, what's bothering you?
He only shook his head and blessed the food,
Her brothers chatter filling the silence,
By the afternoon she was beginning to worry
Her father hadn't eaten much in the morning, and now he sat in the same manner
She felt a little overwhelmed about her father's sudden grief,
So much like her mother's passing,
After they finished eating she began cleaning the table
Looking out the window she saw a strange scene,
A soldier stood arguing with her father
A frown came upon her face,
After the heated discussion
Her father came in side looking defeated,
Sitting down he looked her square in the eyes
"So my dear, I guess I've finally found you a husband"
Jezebel couldn't believe her ears
After so many years, she was finally going to wed,
Bouncing with joy, she knelt at her father's knees
"Who is my future husband father?"
Nathan, looked into his daughter's eyes
At the joy of finally getting married glossing them,
He knew she'd never be really happy,
But this joy she felt was enough,
Sighing he ran his hand down Jezebels cheek
Remembering her beauty, so much like her mother's
Tears of heartache rushed to the brim
"Jezebel, my daughter, you are to marry the king…"
Her face showed surprise, then radiant delight
"Oh father, at least the king wants me!"
She stood up and almost flew out the door
Her world suddenly so much lighter,
The next day even before Jezebel had risen
A knock sounded at the door,
Her father got up and went to answer
Outside stood a soldier, and father back a chariot with the king's men,
"All is ready for the wedding
We are here to collect the bride."
Nathans heart, felt burned at those words
He nodded and went to wake his daughter,
Jezebel bounced from her pallet on the floor and got ready much to fast
He longed to have one more day with his only daughter,
Before long Jezebel pecked his cheek and hugged him goodbye
Before his eyes, he witnessed his daughter's quick departure from his life,
Now he longed more than before to call after her
To warn her of the king's many wives,
And the many long years ahead,
Instead he bowed his head and prayed…
