"Thundersmith? Liam Thundersmith?" Ms. Anders called out to the murmuring classroom "Nessra? Blake Nessra?" She sighed before marking them both absent. 'What a shock, their both absent'.
'C'mon, Blake...' A young man silently panicked. His partner was supposed to have set off the alarm by now, 'hurry the fuck up short stop!"
Just as a armed soldier was rounding the corner towards his hiding place, an ear splitting shriek cut through the air. Lights flashing the woman cursed and raced towards the noise. The alarm howled through the high-rise base as Liam heaved a sigh of relief.
Thanking the gods he dropped from the ceiling. Sprinting in the opposite direction of the commotion he opened the Channel on his bluetooth.
"Feeling especially asinine today?" he snapped rhetorically as he pulled open the door to the fire escape.
"You can't blame me for their security. They upgraded it since last time you reported." Blake's indigent huff crackled over the interface his British accent making the brunette smile.
"I'm sure its nothing you didn't plan for Nessra." He snorted back, rolling his eyes. Running up the stairs he cursed as he heard two guards entering the stairs right behind him.
"You know what? I am sick of your holier-then-thou attitude Liam!" Blake snapped back as a beeping noise emitted across the Channel. Liam drop-kicked one of the guards as she approached behind him. Elbowing the other in the face the rest of Blake's speech was drowned out.
"And I'm sick of you, make sure it doesn't happen again- your failing could have jeopardize the mission. I'll be at checkpoint in about 2 minutes. " He finished, closing the link off.
Blake wanted to scream. "Liam thinks he's hot shit just because he's the one scaling walls, never mind all the work I do! Obviously its my fault for not anticipating that they changed the security code!" he ranted to the empty helicopter "Asshole thinks this shit is easy! I'd like to see him try it!" Approaching the high rise Blake cleared his mind.
Maneuvering out of the heavy air traffic the blonde put aside his partners attitude and focused on his work. Their security really had been fantastic. Only five lines of code having no clue what program it was running on or if it even was registered Blake felt pretty damn accomplished for only spending five minutes, while flying a helicopter, to crack it.
"Not that Liam will ever notice, he's too busy. Running around in his stupid hot pants and jumping off shit." The lean blonde mumbled. Opening the visual Channel surprise surprise, Liam was in the process of jumping out a window… exactly three stories below him.
"Hey genius! What the fuck do you think your doing?" Blake yelled, adjusting his glasses he moved the computer screen off the windshield to get a better look.
"What are you talking about? " Liam replied, adjusting the pack on his back as he glanced over his shoulder.
"You were supposed to get out on the next floor up dumbass." Blake replied, scanning the building to see if anyone was approaching behind his partner "There are four people coming behind you so don't try and double back" He reported.
Realizing his mistake Liam cursed. Climbing to stand on the railing of the balcony he jumped up. Catching the railing above him he scrambled up the side of the boxed in apartment patio, heaving himself onto the solid concrete ground just as the four officers reached the broken window.
"Hurry! The surveillance monitors only have a 10 minute loop before they automatically shut off." Blake told the other male uselessly, dropping the rope ladder.
Deciding to ignore him, Liam grabbed onto the rope and began to steadily climb up to the chopper. A few bullets flew over his shoulder before he was safly out of range.
Blake pulled away from the building, rising to the north. As his partner safely climbed into the helicopter, the hacker heaved a sigh of relief. This may not have been their first mission but it was definitely the most dangerous. Stealing Rebels attack plans would give them a huge advantage in the coming war.
"Your okay? Those bullets were pretty close," Blake asked, glancing at this partner out of the corner of his eye. The larger male buckled himself into the co-pilot seat his army cut hair rusty red in the raising sun.
"Yea, hit my head on a beam but other then that no harm just foul." He replied gruffly to his smaller companion. "I ran into a few soldiers but they were taken care of easily enough." He watched as they verged into ongoing sky traffic, amongst the flying cars and commercial shuttles.
Nodding Blake sighed, "Sorry for leaving you hanging back there, I wasn't properly prepared for their system. They were prepared for us this time. " He apologized looking up pointedly at the controls. If there was one thing he hated it was apologizing for something he could not control. That and people who couldn't drive the air crafts they owned. Shaking his head Liam sighed, "I shouldnt have snapped at you either way. Just panicked is all." He ran a hand through his hair awkwardly, "Wanna get Chinese or Pizza tonight?" He asked It was his night to cook and that was the last thing he wanted to do to.
"I think Chinese sounds good, better then the burned shit you like to flatter as food anyway." Blake replied relaxing into his seat, he glanced at Liam with a smirk.
"Well excuse me, like your any better. You can't even make mac-'n-cheese with instructions!"
"I can too! I just refuse to eat the shit and therefore have no reason to properly prepare it." Blake replied, feigning a haughty posh attitude.
As the two boys drifted into an easy banter, the rest of the ride back to the base went smoothly. The sun was raising over the Fallen City, washing it gold for a new morning.
HI! Okay so, this story takes place in a future where there is 'Sky Traffic' but still things we recognize like helicopters. The boys are in their junior year of high school and work as spies for the government against a rebel resistance group. They aren't good or bad for this; just trying make ends meet. They do live together and may end up 'together'. Depends on how I'm feeling. Next chapter we'll go into more details on who they are, where they live, how they met and all that good stuff :]
