Alexis had, surprisingly, not seen any of the mirror's antics, instead choosing to stare intently at the Sephora catalog, searching desperately for the perfect shade of lip gloss. The mirror wriggled and glowed, teasing Alexis, willing her to look at it. She somehow, did not see any of it, and the mirror's glow dimmed, and it ceased to move. Only then did she turn around, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary to her.

"Girls.. and boy! Your father and I are going to sleep! When you are ready, close the lights yourself! Don't sleep to late!" Their mother called from the large room at the end of their hall. Mumbled "mm"s chorused through the three rooms, which just happened to be next to each other. Alexis, having decided on bubble-tastic lip gloss, fluffed up her pillows and brushed her hair-twice- and landed on her bed. She was out like a light and her breathing quickly slowed.

Moonlight filtered through her window and it hit the center of the mirror. With renewed energy, the mirror began its rhythmic spasms again. It glowed green, and its aura billowed and clouded its surface. It seemed to have a mind of its own, moving, but mute. It paused for a second, then seemed to be concentrating.

Slowly, like how fish are drawn to worm bait, two faint gray tendrils of something wispy came to the mirror, with no definite shape, sort of like gray, lined blobs. This was, however, no ordinary substance. The mirror seemed to sense it, then with a pull, the two gray tendrils were whisked away into the endless pool of green inside the mirror, enveloping them thoroughly. Then it was still.

Alexis, Francesca, and Aurore slept soundly through the night, never doubting once that something might not be right. Francesca woke up first, and without any ado, delved deeper into her statistics book. Alexis got up and smiled at her flawless reflection in the mirror. It was carved intricately, and inlaid with mother-of-pearl, birds, shells, and other various plants, mushrooms, and flowers adorned its glittering glass.

"Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?" Alexis asked the mirror, a little haughtily.

Then, mimicking another voice, she replied,"You Dear Queen with straight of hand, are the one, the only, fairest in the land."

At this Alexis had to smile, and placed a loving hand on her golden curls. Both sisters were, however, brought out of their rooms by Aurore yelling, clearly distressed. His eyes were wide, and he was screaming and panting.

"I got to- I got to-" Both sisters looked on, worried." I got t-to tell you something. I need to- I need to PEE!" With that said, he raced down the hall to the bathroom. Two very angry sisters followed him.

"You little jerk!"

"You ignominy to all things human!"

Aurore flushed, washed, and came back out looking a little better.

"No, that wasn't it!" Aurore was still tired from running around, both sisters supposed. Aurore's eyes were wide, his breathing labored.

"Mommy and Daddy are gone."

Author's note: OK, I know Aurore acts a little immature, but hey! How did you guys like the cliffhanger?
