teardrops of inky white moonlight erupt on the broken plains

as streetlights turn to nightlights

the trees cast their slippery shadows over unassuming ground

the lips of cherry greed subside into doom

but the nightingales are still singing

and the sun still shines through crevices of hope

the snow is still white
