"W-What did I do?" Julia demanded, looking crestfallen. Luke glared at her and refused to say anything more. Julia was completely and utterly confused. She had no idea what she had done wrong. Lilly was soon awake and started arguing with him.
"Luke! She has no idea about the prophecy, she's not even used to being a werewolf! Go easy, alright?" Lilly snapped, sounding hurt. He groaned.
"Then tell her!" He retorted. Lilly sighed and turned towards Julia.
"It's a long story, okay?" Lilly asked. Julia nodded.
"If it has something to do with me then I don't care how long it is!" Julia told her confidently.
"Alright. Well, I first heard it when I was six. I told Luke about it later. Anyways, I was playing with Crissis, Titiana, Misian and Jakobian, and then we eavesdropped on the adults. We heard a prophecy, and whilst I don't remember the exact wording, I do remember the gist of it. It said there would be a new girl. She'd come, and she'd defeat the Dark side. And, the person they described…" Lilly trailed off and looked apprehensive.
"You're the one," Luke told her. Julia's head spun.
"So I'm supposed to defeat a superior race when I don't even know how to become a werewolf?" Julia demanded. Lilly nodded.
"Completely," Lilly nodded, looking less anxious. Luke hit her arm.
"Lilly, she's being sarcastic!" Luke snapped. Lilly frowned.
"Is she?" Lilly asked. Luke nodded and Julia sighed.
"Finally, somebody around here who understands the delightful language of sarcasm!" Julia sighed.
"Sarcasm?" Lilly repeated.
"Yeah, what's sarcasm?" Misian asked, kneeling down beside Julia. Lilly frowned.
"Go away, Misian," Lilly snapped. Misian looked angry.
"Go away, Misian," He mimicked, sounding hurt, "That's what everybody says." Then he stomped off sadly.
"Lilly," Julia mumbled, "Do you think you could've been less…. I don't know, blunt?"
"What? Do you want me to make it so hard for the poor boy so that he rips his hair out, like, I don't know, Crissis with Jakobian? She is such a flirt, she is…" Lilly sighed.
"My sister is not a flirt," Misian's cold, hard voice came from behind her. They all turned around and Lilly started squeaking out an apology. Julia was amazed that they didn't notice him standing right behind her.
"The moon," Luke whispered, suddenly mesmerised. Julia looked up into Misian's eyes and saw the reflection of the moon in it. Lilly seemed to see it too.
"T-The moon!" She cried out. Suddenly other screams and cries were heard. Lilly hastily lifted up the makeshift beds of blankets that herself and Luke had been lying on, and hastily threw them over herself to make a small tent-like compartment. Luke and Misian both crawled into it too. Julia sat there, confused.
Then she felt her hair become thicker and thicker. Then she felt it slowly crawl down her face. She felt her hearing sharpen. Then pain burst through her body. She screamed and cried as the pain rocketed through her. She threw the blankets over herself as she visibly relaxed. The pain stopped and the hair vanished. She sat on the end, next to Luke, and Lilly was squashed between Misian and Luke.
"Why are we in here? When can we get out?" Julia demanded nervously. Misian bit his lip and Luke's eyes widened.
"It depends. If clouds cover up the moon, then we can get out sooner. If not, we'll have to stay put until morning," Lilly nodded importantly. Julia went pale.
"Morning? Morning! That's, like, twelve hours away!" Julia cried out. Misian nodded.
"I guess we'll just have to wait that long, then," Misian shrugged. Julia gaped.
"Why?"
"Because, we transform on full moon. We are too young to bear the pain, Julia. Even if you do have a necklace, it is still painful. And difficult. We'd die if we were still out there," Luke informed her.
"Has that actually ever happened?" Julia asked, worried. Lilly and Misian looked grim.
"It happened once. Poor girl, she was only nine years old," Misian shrugged. Lilly glared at him.
"That girl died of the pain. And, besides, that girl happens to be my ex-older sister," Lilly sniffed, tears forming in the corners of her eyes.
"I'm sorry, I should've known," Misian mumbled guiltily, blushing bright red. Lilly glared at him, tears rolling down her cheeks.
"No, you shouldn't have. Your sisters were being so slutty you didn't even have time to come to her funeral!" Lilly shrieked, her finger shaking at him accusingly. Luke and Julia flinched in unison. Luke's hand raced straight to Julia's and she blushed. He looked down and edged away from her, blushing in embarrassment.
"Are they always like this?" Julia whispered. All Luke could do in reply was nod grimly.
