"Can't you control Him?" I yelped helplessly. Water was up to my knees, sapping the little life I had left in me.

"I've told, Rain is independent here, he does what he wants, tormenting all who tries to tame him," my companion cooed, a mere velvet whisper over the howling rain. She was swiftly gliding through the water, as if on land, with me in tow as I trudged forward, my skin turning as white as her's.

My journey was coming to an end, whether fulfilled or not, if this kept up. I couldn't take it anymore. My legs gave way as I slumped to the ground, my breath coming in heavy gasps.

" I can't take it anymore! I get closer to death at each step I take, and I don't know how much further we have to go!" I unleashed my tiredness in a lash of anger, showing the many doubts cluttering my mind.

But the unexpected happen. I was lofted into the air by the usually fragile hand of my comrade. She slapped me across my face, still gripping the collar of my shirt, as she growled in my face. "You are not giving up you wimp! I survived the rest of the elements, so you can too!" her gentle voice had evaporated, releasing the anger she stashed away. "Now, move it," she grumbled as she released her grasp.

I trudged on, feet feeling like rocks, when I took the wrong step, and plunged to my doom in endless, aquatic, darkness.
