He unzipped his skin
Stepped out of the soft, wet layer
Standing before the mirror, he saw blood red
Pulsing, alive
He turned slowly
Unsatisfied, he began to remove his flesh
Muscles, organs, all stripped away
Pulsing, alive
Laid on the cold bathroom tiles
He left his eyes where they were
He needed to see
Trembling slightly with anticipation
He gazed upon his bare skeleton
Nothing
It was nowhere to be found
Suddenly worried, he had a fleeting thought
(Strange, since his brain was pulsing on the floor)
What if his eyes were the key?
The windows to find himself
He reached up and removed one
Gazing into it with his remaining eye
He searched for his soul.
