Let Time Stop

Let time stop for a moment

Watch as the world stops

It stands in perfect alignment

The moon covers the sun

The world in a never-ending shadow

That blankets us like winter

And as it showers us in snow

We shower ourselves with blood

Let time stop for a moment

Listen to the wind as it stills

The only sound left is a fight

A single bullet that soars

Flying through the turbulent air

Embedding itself into a man

A man who had fought for his family

But then again so did the others

Let time stop for a moment

Understand how we are so divided

The wives and husbands home

Praying they would come back to them

Then watching the two men

Outside their door saluting

Then they realize it's too late

They took their last breath alone

Let time stop for a moment

Touch the cold hands of our family

The people who didn't deserve this

A coffin with a flag covering and a bow

They were taken from us for honor

And when you're young and learning

You see that in everyone's short life

Blood screams louder than words

Let time stop for a moment

Because this battle won't be the last

Every man lost is just a man down

We lose thousands out there in a year

But everyday we lose millions in here

As we have nightmares about our loss

And how our tragedy is just data

For the government, it's a statistic

Let time stop for a moment

See there's more that connects the world

Than just a war that we seem to be in

Through our mistakes they say we learn

But through them, do we ever really understand?

We share our man-ruled world

And as it naturally covers us in its snow

We douse ourselves with shame and regret.
