A/N: Michael/Declan verse and it isn't supposed to make sense.

The first thing he noticed when he came to was that he wasn't in a hospital and it was troubling because after one gets into an accident you expect to wake up in a hospital. Then he got a sinking feeling and thought he must be dead but why did heaven look like a dismal forest with a crummy looking house nearby? He had never heard of heaven looking like that before

"Dude, I am a wizard so just stand back! I got this."

The voice of Michael made his eyes dart towards the right and Declan felt more at ease because it was Michael but then he realized he had woken up in a strange forest after getting injured. This was no time to feel at ease.

"Michael would say I'm having a Wizard of Oz moment," Declan muttered with a laugh. His laughing got the attention of the Michael look and sound-a-like as well as a shorter man who looked like his acquaintance Andy.

"Man your awake!"

"I am," Declan announced warily.

Andy huffed. "See he woke up on his own. You didn't have to do any of your parlor tricks to wake him up which I think is a blessing to all of us."

"Andy shut up. I am nearly a full-fledged wizard and I will turn you into a toad or something weird looking."

Declan managed to push himself to see feet as the two continued arguing. Stumbling slightly, he was steadied by Michael who had that similar look of concern in his eye.

"Dude, are you okay? You looked pretty unconsciousness when we stumbled across you and I think you look even worse now that you're standing up!"

"I probably injured myself. How do you think I am, Michael?"

He gaped. "How do you know my name? Are you one of those psychics?"

"I… you don't know me?" Declan asked and he hoped his voice didn't break too much.

"I don't think I do but you know me. I can see it in your eyes but how do you know me? I can't remember ever meeting you."

Declan felt his temples starting to throb and he let out a sigh. Opening his mouth to speak, he felt another burst of pain and had to hold onto Michael to steady himself. "I… we're best friends and I don't know where I am. I got hurt and woke up here."

"That is so awesome. I have a best friend I don't know about? Dude, I always wanted a best friend."

"What am I?" Andy bellowed.

Michael shook his head. "You're not my best friend, man! We can barely stand to spend more than a day together before we start fighting."

'Please wake up,' Declan thought as he reached his hand up to pinch his cheek. Wincing when pain radiated through him, he pinched himself for a second time and found that he had failed to wake up or snap back to his reality.

"Dude, are you all right?" Michael asked as he leaned close.

Declan had to chuckle. No matter where they were it was still Michael. "My name is Declan."

"Weird name but it suits you," Michael grinned. "So how did you end up here, Dec?"

He faltered at the name and then shrugged as one hand came up to cradle his still throbbing head. "I woke up here. The last thing I remember was talking to you –or the you I know- on the phone and then nothing."

Andy saw that Michael was about to say something and he quickly cut him off. "As much as I would love to be witness to this creepy love fest, I have to bring up the idea about us getting the hell inside. There are werebeasts crawling around here!"

"The only reason we're out here is because you said you forgot to close the gate!" Michael muttered.

"Werebeasts?" Declan asked flatly.

Andy shuddered as he came up behind him and started gently but firmly pushing him forward. "They are nasty creatures that you do not want to face! Michael get the gate!"

"I will this time but next time it's your job!"

Declan felt his head starting to throb again but this time it wasn't because of his possibly injury. It was more of a… Michael headache.

The best conclusion that Declan could come to was that he was in some weird dream like reality where Michael was a wizard just shy of his graduation date and Andy was still annoying. Somehow Declan had gotten here after an accident and no matter how hard he tried to wake himself up he couldn't which made him wonder if there was a way home.

"Maybe a kiss might work," Michael muttered later that afternoon. "There are tons of accounts of kisses waking people up out of enchanted sleeps."

"Michael…" Declan started to say before finding himself with a mouthful of Michael. Blinking, he stared at the man with a blank expression and sighed.

"I guess it didn't work."

"You shouldn't kiss strangers."

"But you said we're best friends and that means we aren't strangers."

Declan tried hard not to smile but it was so like Michael to do such a thing and reminded him of the one he knew. It made him want to wake up as soon as possible but that didn't seem to be possible right now.

"You still shouldn't kiss strangers."

Michael nodded and then grinned. "If a kiss won't work then we'll just have to try a spell. I knew several successful ones."

"He knows parlor tricks!" Andy interrupted. "If you let him use a spell on you he'll turn you into some woodland creature. It took two weeks for me to find someone to turn me back into a human!"

Michael started to pout. "I meant well though! I was only trying to help."

"Maybe we can look over your list of spells and if one seems to fit we can try it," Declan said warily.

"Really?"

"Yes, Michael."

"Dude, you won't regret it and if I turn you into a woodland creature I will try real hard to turn you back into a human!"

Declan pinched the bridge of his noise and let out a deep sigh. "I would appreciate it if you didn't turn me into anything really."

"Both of you just shut up!" Andy interrupted again. "I want to get some sleep. In the morning we can figure out how to help Decan."

"Declan."

"Close enough."

Michael gave him a dirty look and then gestured towards the other bed. "You can sleep there if you want. I am fine with the floor."

Despite his protests, Declan ended up sleeping in the bed but when he woke up the next morning he felt the familiar feeling of being caught in a snuggle hold by Michael.

"Michael can you let go of me? I'd like to get out of bed now."

"Huh? Oh sorry. I got uncomfortable on the floor and last time I tried to snuggle with Andy he kicked me."

Chuckling Declan climbed out of bed after Michael had untangled from him and had to duck when the man grabbed his staff and held it in an angle that left his head in the danger zone. "You need to watch that thing."

"Sorry again," Michael grinned. "I'm just ready to get to work!"

Declan really hoped he didn't get turned into some kind of animal.

"I told you he wouldn't find a way to get you home with any of his spells."

"Shut up, Andy! Your negative energy is killing my spells!"

"Maybe your lack of skills-"

"Will both of you shut up?" Declan muttered as he felt his head beginning to throb. It was one of those splitting headaches again but it wasn't as the bad as the ones he had gotten when he had first 'woken up' here. "Michael is there someone else you know who might be more… skilled?"

"We could go see The Wizard. He's one of the best in Foz."

"The Wizard? Foz?" Declan repeated and he had to pinch his cheek three times before resigning himself to the fact that he was stuck in some demented Wizard of Oz reality.

"She calls himself 'The Wizard'. If anyone can do it she can."

"I got that Michael but what is Foz?"

"Our land."

'I need to wake up,' Declan thought as Michael made a beeline for the door.

"Michael, she is not going to help us!"

"Who calls themselves The Wizard?" Declan asked Andy as they both reluctantly followed Michael.

"What kind of name is Devin?"

"My name is Declan."

Andy huffed. "Well they're both weird."

"Yes and the name Andy signifies something great."

Rolling his eyes, Declan left the fuming Andy a bit behind as he caught up to Michael who seemed too excited. Whenever Michael got that excited he usually became careless and this was regardless of whether he was a wizard or not. He still imagined he could get into quite a lot of trouble.

"She lives just over that hill so it shouldn't be that far," Michael told Declan with a grin. "We won't tire you out too much, Dec."

"What did you call me?"

Michael frowned. "I didn't call you anything."

"You called me Dec."

"No I didn't."

He sighed. "I heard you- oh never mind. So how far is it again?"

"Over the hill," Michael repeated.

"That is strangely close."

"This area attracts a lot of wizards and is prime real estate," Andy explained.

Declan made a sound that he understood and pinched himself harder. He had to wake up because this was starting to become very annoying and confusing.

The walk was longer than he imagined. Every time they seemed to get close enough the path would lengthen and Declan was the only one who seemed to notice it. "How much longer is it? You said it was a short walk, Michael."

"Dude we'll get there when you're ready to get back."

"I'm ready now!"

Michael blinked and it was as if hadn't said anything. "Uh… okay? Well we're here so you can calm down now, Dec."

"You called me Dec again."

"I said Declan."

Declan groaned. "Forget it."

He pushed ahead of the two and found the door to be open. After scanning the room, he found someone standing in a corner but before he could get their attention they turned around.

"Who dares to intrude on 'The Wizard'?

"Cindy?" Declan asked in disbelief.

"My name is not Cindy. I had it legally changed to 'The Wizard' years ago."

"We need your help. Declan here is stuck in our world and needs to get home."

Cindy gazed at Michael and then looked at Declan. "If the idiot wakes up then he can solve all of this. You've been asleep long enough."

"I just need to wake up?" Declan asked in annoyance. "Don't you think I've been trying to do that?"

"Try harder. Think of what you left behind and focus on it."

"That's all you have for me?"

"Try it!"

Michael nudged him. "Try it, Declan. It might get you back to the other me. Is he cooler or am I?"

"I'm not going to answer that," Declan said with a grin as he closed his eyes.

"Remember focus!" Cindy bellowed. "Think about your world and when you grasp onto it, pull yourself back home."

Declan tried but after a few minutes he felt nothing. "It's not working!"

Then he felt a sudden pain in his head.

"Give into the pain, Declan. That will help you get back!" Cindy shouted.

"You're still a bitch no matter what reality we're in," Declan muttered as he felt his vision fading.

The last thing he heard before he passed out was Cindy laughing.

When Declan came to he found himself in the hospital. It was very stereotypical and he let out a pained snort of amusement.

"Declan?" a voice croaked and it didn't take him long to figure out it was Michael.

Quickly the man came into his field of vision and grasped his hand tightly. "You've been out for two days since the accident. I thought you weren't going to wake up!"

"He was really worried," Cindy spoke up from the doorway, a cup of coffee in her hand.

Declan lifted up a hand to cup Michael's face. "I had a dream and you were there. So were you, Cindy."

"Was I cool?"

Declan laughed weekly. "You were a wizard."

"Awesome."

Lifting his head to kiss Michael, he laid his head back down on the pillow and brushed back some of his hair. "You should probably go tell a nurse that I'm awake now."

Michael looked panicked at the idea of leaving Declan and looked over at his sister who smiled and walked out. "So what kind of wizard was I?"

"You were kind of a bumbling wizard but still cute."

"I don't care how I was. I'm just glad you're awake."

Declan grinned. "Me too."
