Night or Day?

Would you follow the dying of the day?

Where shadows flee the gaze of the harsh sun,

To fade into the night's calm peaceful bay.

l

And to pursue the laughing golden ray,

Of bold heroic deeds and tragic strife,

Would you follow the dying of the day?

l

Or watch as bright beams turn to gentle gray.

As life leaves and birdsong falls to silence,

To fade into the night's calm peaceful bay.

l

And miss the clear blue skies of summer's decay,

Where clouds floated past in vast fleets of snow.

Would you follow the dying of the day?

l

Or sink into the stream of come-what-may,

And let the waters muffle the soul's light,

To fade into the night's calm peaceful bay.

l

So fall to shadow or in sunshine stay?

For nightmares razor-sharp and golden dreams,

Would you follow the dying of the day?

To fade into the night's calm peaceful bay.
