My name is Elizabeth Richardson I was born in a big country house in Southwest England in 1638. I had a sister Anne born in 1634 and a brother George born in 1636.
My mother died of fever when I was one and my father William remarried Henrietta Buckingham.
When the civil war erupted my father went off to fight for the king meaning we didn't see him at all.
A pregnant Henrietta was left in charge of us, but she treated my siblings and I like second-class citizens.
She had a daughter Mary who was spoilt rotten from the moment she was delivered.
