Chapter 2

MAXWELL POV

As I watched Mia, or should I say Temperance, ride away, I couldn't help but think about how sad of a case she was. She was such a smart and bright girl who went to George Washington University. Somehow she got on the wrong side of the law for the English government. I bet right now she is going to make some illegal transaction. It would probably be a good idea to follow her.

I hail a taxi over and tell them to follow the taxi ahead. The taxi driver says he needs an exact destination or he won't take me. I hand him a couple hundred dollars, which shuts him up immediately. Her taxi keeps going up the street for three blocks, and then she exits it. I tell the cab driver to let me out half a block before her.

I get out of the taxi and quickly catch up close to her, but not too close; I don't want her to know that I'm following her. She turns right on the next street and keeps walking. Where the hell is she going?

TEMPERANCE POV

I can't believe it; Maxwell is following me. He probably doesn't realize I know he is following me since he is still following me, but still; why is he following me Doesn't he have some sort of meeting to go to? He must have known who I was even before the latte incident. This can't be happening. My cover has never been blown before. None of this makes sense.

I cut the corner of the next street and quickly turn into a shop before he can see me perform the action. I put my glasses on and pretend to be looking at the items in the store, while discreetly looking at the windows. Within seconds he appears and stops while looking down the road for me. I move further back so he can't see me, but not too far back that I can't see him. Just in the nick of time thankfully, because at that moment he turned around and for a split second looked through the shop. He turned around and kept going forward on the street; so he must have not seen me. This is going to be a very long mission.
