Wondering

Quick kisses and hugs
Holding hands in public unafraid
Love declarations

A dancing Partner
Holds you close and whisper things
Only you understand

Stand in the corner
Watching the couples dancing
Single and alone

"You're too young" they say
Just a small slip of teen girl
"No boys until older"

Years pushing away
Rough advances, nice gestures
Because of age rules

"Sisters before boys"
Mantra you always repeat
Unconvinced sometimes

Some things friends can't give
Kiss goodnight or rose bouquets
Or a Valentine

Mind starts wandering
What it's like to have someone
To be in love with

Spill your secrets to
Cuddling and fondly holding
Affection that's yours
