It is often said

That the eternal quest

Should be to do the right thing.

What is that, I've wondered?

Ask one man, and he'll tell you.

Ask Five, and they'll argue betwixt themselves.

I suppose the right thing, Much like beauty

Is in the eye of the beholder.

Was it the right thing to continue

Through a marriage that was clearly unhealthy

If for the sake of avoiding sorrow?

Was it the right thing for her to voice her mind

And give credence to the black hole that shattered my heart?

Perhaps it was only within the right thing

In the eye of this beholder that can make us understand the

Lessons of life we must learn.

To that end, Thank you for doing the right thing

And shattering my heart.
