| The Mermaid
Author: Macotee A poem I wrote after the thoughts and imagery kept coming back during my drive home after work. It's a little dark, but it was a joy to write.

The Mermaid
Down in the depths
swirling through the currents
dancing with the water life.
Her eyes sharp,
her voice ready,
looking up for the tell-tale shadow.
Where is her sailor?
to end her pain
Terribly lonesome,
her heart wrecked with desire.
Her arms long for the warmth of a man.
Too bad they go cold so quickly.
