Written for a challenge to describe someone I have an irrational affection for

They called him The Mad Lion,
The one everyone knew and smiled at
But whom everyone made fun of,
He with big ears and pale skin
And gangly legs.

He jumped from the second floor balcony
To get to the first floor quicker.
To me, seated unknowingly below,
He was like a bolt from a clear sky.
I blinked at him,
asked stupidly: What did he do that for?
When I found out I said,
"Well it was cool. Do it again."
And he did
Forgetting that he was in a hurry.

He saw me walking to school after a rain
And stopped me from stepping
into a puddle.
He said: "I'm sorry I've no jacket"
And whisked me into his arms
And carried me to class
Like a damsel in distress.

He took me to his secret nook
And we watched scary videos
Deep into the night.

He talked about things I didn't understand:
Economics, computers, philosophy,
And things I did:
but I forgot what I said
Because I was lost in his voice.

Everyone said he was weird
But I liked him.
