III. not like a knock-knock joke
free will is a funny thing
like a bad joke or wit gone sour
the insult on the tip of tongue gone haywire
it is a thing that cannot be restrained
and if belted down, well
you get me, with all my need to be
and be, and be, and be
a single taste of it is like
rainwater on a parched tongue
desire threads out through you
and well,
to be, or not to be?
what sort of question is that?
it's funnier in a different language
an old script, pressed upon scorched shoulders,
a desire and a need and
freedom is the thing that fells you
but isn't it fun to fall, at least?
to feel the wind whip through hair
to let it burn lullabies upon your cheeks?
falling is a virtue, a right
not some sort of privilege
unwarranted by those blind to it.
