One man's road
One must wonder,
why one man's road winds through green pastures and rosy fields,
and another man's through thorny thicket,
fighting with little to no shields,
barely seeing what lies yonder.
As one man's road carries him through sunbathed land,
he treads lightly through crimson flowerbed,
and comes to experience velvet covered undergrowth,
shocked and pained he retreats,
careful and weary now to where he would tread,
uneasy and scared to where he would now stand.
As another man's road winds through difficult road,
he treads carefully through thorns and shade,
rarely a sun blot pierces the thicket,
and he takes a moment to bathe his face in warmth,
holding it to memory as sun would once again fade,
now with strength that would not let him be slowed.
As one man's tale tells of the hidden pain,
and of momentary rain,
another man's tale tells of beauty in light,
and of overcoming fright.
