The day I met Lady Bethany Rodkin I never thought she would change my life. I didn't even think we would get on, but life is very eventful (So I have now learnt.) Maybe it was Fate that brought us together so she could change me as a person. I met her at one Of Count Gerald Smiths parties. It must have been the middle of winter as the snow had settled on the ground in thick blankets, I am pretty sure it was November the 31st.
She was stood in her velvet blue dress and her matching chocker a picture of true beauty with her long blonde hair that was plaited. Of course she caught they eye of most of the single men (And some of the men who were engaged or married!), but she rejected all their advances to dance or to keep in contact. Instead of blushing and basking in the attention she was been given, she instead took a different route and shrugged her shoulders and rolled her eyes. She acted very rude towards all of the men who dared to talk to her. At first I thought her to be the spoilt moody daughter of a Rich man, like most where ( I was lucky enough to be raised strictly and to be polite unlike some.) but then I assumed it must be annoying and tedious been constantly swamped with unwanted attention. I took pity on her and felt grateful for my plain looks. That's when I heard a little cough, not one that indicated that they we're unwell but one to alert ones presence. I turned around slowly to see Master Sebastian Crofts, he was the son of My fathers closest friend and business Partner.
I smiled Meekly at him. I wasn't in the mood for socialising especially not with him, he was far too forward and in a way obsessed with dancing with me. Of course I used the excuse of me not been a fond dancer and one that wasn't very good. He would smile and offer me lessons too which I always declined claiming to be an embarrassment, but it would never throw Sebastian off my scent. At first I thought him to be flattering but later on he showed he was a very forward and demanding man. I was out on a Balcony at a past Party only to have him follow me, at first it seemed he had good intentions but that was a misconception as he practically lunged in for a kiss. Not a little goodnight peck but one of passion, something which indicated he wanted more than just a goodnight kiss. Something I was saving for marriage and something I didn't want him to have. If we had been caught my father would have been furious, never mind the scandal and shame from the public and the papers. "You do Look very beautiful today. That dress flatters your figure and suits you very well Angeline ." He purred grabbing and raising my gloved hand to his kips. He planted a soft kiss on the black silky gloves before letting go. "Thank you Sebastian." I mummer. Even though I really don't want to thank Him I do not want to be rude."I was Thinking dear Angeline that maybe tonight you would finally do me the honours of a dance?" He asked me. It sounded more of a plead than an ask in my opinion. I tried to think of an excuse to get far away from him, but none came to mind that were plausible and made sense. I just accepted that I would have to dance with him. But that's when I heard a new voice in this conversation. I looked over to see Lady Beth. She was smiling and waving frantically."OH ANGELINE! It is such a pleasure to meet you. My Mother talks fondly of you." She screeched slightly. I watched as Sebastian raised an eyebrow and looked from her to me, whilst looking at me I noticed Lady Beth wink slightly and I twigged on to her plan. "Oh yes Lady Beth It's a pleasure to meet you to. Sebastian Do you mind if me and Beth talk in private for a bit?" I asked him. He was going to object to which I used the one thing he wanted most against him. "Oh please Sebastian. Once we are done I promise you and me will dance." I softly said leaning in and kissing him on his cheek. I watched as he smiled and nodded."Of Course my dear, you two have a nice chat. I will be waiting for you just come find me once you are ready to dance." He said bidding us farewell before walking off into the crowd. It was a crowded and fairly noisy party, but most of the guests here where the same as usual. Stuck up and not people I would choose to keep as company.
I look over to Lady Beth who is smiling. I have to thank her for saving me for a bit from the pressure which is Sebastian.
"Thank you Lady Beth. Sebastian does have good intentions it's just he's very forward." I thank her to which she shook her head and put a gloved hand on my shoulder. "It's no worry Angeline and call me Beth darling all my friends do. You are just indomitable around men as I am. They are brutes and so crude. Big gorillas in a way." She giggled slightly. I laugh a little too. "Thank you Beth again. May I add your dress is wonderful, it really suits you! I wish I could wear blue as well as you do. You are very beautiful." I smile trying to compliment her and seem friendly. She is of course one of the few people I have talked to tonight and it would be nice to make a new friend, as I do not have many and it would be a nice addition. She shakes her head a little sending some stray blonde strands flaying, she is blushing slightly which confuses me. I am pretty sure that the men who were complimenting her earlier would have called her far more beautiful (And far more cruder things as well.) but she didn't blush, why is it different when I called her it? I ask my self.
"Oh please do not flatter me. I thank you though. But My, My, My you are a very pretty thing. Many people can wear blue but to pull of black at a party like this is a very difficult task. Oh and your eyes they sparkle like emeralds!" I hear her exclaim bending in closer to get a better look at them. I slightly back off but realise soon how silly and rude I must look.
Instead I smooth my dress down and quickly have a glance at hers. A brilliant shade of blue is the colour of them. The pupils are wide with curiosity. I smile and lean back preparing to say goodbye and walk off to find Sebastian and give him the dance he for so long has desired and looked forward too. But my hand is yanked once more by Beth."Come with me to the Balcony darling I have something to show you." She giggles letting go of my hand and linking up to me. Before I can object she is practically pulling me through the crowded golden hall towards one of the more secluded balconies. I begin to panic a little over why I am been taken there but realise she too is a woman and is probably wanting some air or something. I ease off and am willingly lead through the party goers. I hear some people remark on how nice it is that I finally seem to have a friend.
The Air is cold outside on the stone balcony. I step onto it and walk towards the banister. It is the only one on this side of the hall and is completely secluded from view. I look up at the sky to see it is heavily hidden by clouds that looked heavy with snow. The snow on the balcony had been cleared but it was still slightly slippy. I am careful about where I walk not wanting to slip and make me look a fool in front of Beth. I shiver as a Cold breeze blows past me. Before looking out over the large garden that is coated in Layers of snow and twinkles slightly under the low light from the house. That's when the lights from the party almost went out, giving me little light to see. I turn around using what little light I had to see that Beth had shut the curtains and was now shutting the door. She walked towards me smiling. Her smile unsettled me though and made me squirm under her gaze. She came and sat on the bench on one side of the Balcony. She patted the empty seat beside her. I shook my head not wanting to go too near her in fear of what she would do. It was silly and I knew it sounded silly but I was slightly unnerved by her. But she was a woman and women didn't fancy or want to try anything on with the same sex. "Oh I do love it when people play hard to get." She giggled and stood up before striding towards me. I stepped back only to be met by the coldness of the stone Banister that was around the Balcony.
Once she was in front of me she leant in until I could hear her breath against my ear. Her hair was flung in my face and it flung a sweet pungent smell up my nose that relaxed me almost. But I was still panicking. "Angeline you are very beautiful when you are scared." She sniggered before leaning back a little and gently pressing her lips against my own. Panicking I didn't know whether to break away from it and shove her back, or to continue in to the end and tell her afterwards that it was not acceptable to do this to another Lady. But the thing was I was beginning to like it….
End of Chapter note. I really Do not have a clue what was going on when I wrote this. I am thinking of continuing my first proper idea for a story in months. Please review and favour it if you enjoyed. Thank you- Kingofslasher.
