Summary: Iris is ready to travel to the dig site. When she gets there, she is blown away by the Pyramids and the Sphinx. The team begin to explore the site. What does the Ancient sand hide?

Chapter Three

Welcome to Egypt!

IRIS

We are about a an hour away from Egypt. I squealed in my seat. My eyes glued to the window.

"You excited?" Zoey asked, humor lightening her voice I nodded vigorously.
"I have been waiting for this moment my whole life!" I exclaimed.

"Cool, How long have you been into Egyptology?" Zoey asked,
"Since i was like 5!" I said truthfully.
"Wow. I go into when i was in 6th grade" Zoey said shocked

We continued chatting until the announcement came.

"Good Evening everyone, This is your captain speaking. We are about to land in Cairo, Egypt. So please fasten your seat-belts and have a good time" The Captain informed us. I fastened my seat-belt.

We began our descent. We finally landed. We all got off the plane as a group. After about an hour we all had all of our bags.

"Okay, The two taxi's are on there way. We will head to the Hotel and introduce all of us to each other and get to know each other" Doctor Dalton informed us.

"I hope we can share a room" Zoey said, I smiled and agreed.

The taxi's arrived. Zoey, and a few other students and i got into one with Dr. Dalton. The other head of this project took the other one with the other kids. My eyes remained glued to the window again. I took in all of the sights. Loving ever second of it. We pulled up at a fancy-ish looking hotel named "The Pharaoh" .

"Okay, Let's check in. We have an bunch of joined rooms. Two to a room. So pick a person you can share a room with for a year" Dr. Dalton said. Zoey and I linked arms and walked over to him.

"Okay, at the cabins on the Dig you guys will share with another pair." Dr. Dalton said, we nodded. A while later, Dr. Dalton passed out door key cards and led us up to our rooms on the top floor.

Zoey and i entered our room. It was awesome! it had a great view of the Nile, it had too queen beds, a dresser on each side. A flat screen TV and a nice bathroom. We put all of our stuff away.

"This room is amazing!" I exclaimed.
"You know it sister!" Zoey exclaimed.

"Hey guys, when you are done, come into my room. We are going to introduce everyone" Dr. Dalton said through the door. Zoey and i got up and walked out of the room. Locking it i followed Zoey to Dr. Dalton's room. We knocked and where admitted entry,

We all sat in a big circle on the floor. A few kids on the bed, still keeping the circle.

"Okay, We will start with me, and go around the circle saying: Our nae, age, year of school, and something about ourselves" Dr. Dalton said. We all agreed, shwoing him we understand what he means.

"Okay, I'm Doctor Mike Dalton, I'm 45. And I have been a Doctor for 20 years now" We all clapped, it went on. Zoey was next.

"Hi, I'm Zoey Miller. I'm 14, a Freshman. And I play softball" She introduced herself.

'Oh Great, My turn'

"I'm Ava Star. I'm 14. I'm a Freshman and I am a Huge Band and Color Guard person" It went on for a while.

"Hi. My name is Jacob Wright. I'm 14, a freshman and i like Marching Band." I saw a tall, piercing green-eyed boy with pale skin and dark short brown hair. I have to admit, He's pretty good-looking.

"What do you play?" I asked,
"I play trumpet, You?"
"Flute"
"Awesome" He responded. I gave him a quick smile, which he returned.

The circle finished.

"Okay, now that we are all acquainted. We will head to the digsite tomorrow. I will wake you up or fetch you at 9 in the morning. Wear proper clothes. We have hats that will protect your face and neck so don;t worry about that" Dr. Dalton announced.

"We will stay in this hotel for a week or so, and then live at the Cabins at the dig for awhile" He continued.
"Okay, Good Night, see you in the Morning" Dr. D dismissed us. Zoey and i entered our room and flopped onto our bed.

"Well, we finally get to get a closer look at the Sphinx of Giza!" I exclaimed, Zoey smiled and nodded.

We fell asleep. I couldn't stop smiling...

THE NEXT MORNING 8:30

I woke up half and hour before Dr. D came to get us. I check my phone. I had 4 new messages.

1 from Mom

1 from Dad

and 2 from Noah

Dad said

~He Sweetie How's Egypt?

Mom said

~ Hey Honey! How was the trip? Is it like you always dreamed of? Text me when you can! We all love and miss you!

And Noah said

~ Hey Sis! How is Egypt? I wanna hear about you first day at the Excavation site when you can! Love you

~ Hey, Ryan wants to say hi. Singing to him at the airport helped him get home, but he still misses you terribly.

To Dad I wrote

~ He Dad, I love it here! I'll take plenty of pictures for you guys!

To Mom i wrote

~ Hey Mom, The trip wa sfine. We landed around 5 O'clock our time. And YES! It's even better! I love it here! I miss & love you guys too!

To Jacob i wrote

~ Hey Big Bro! I love it here, It's amazing! I have great view of the Nile from the Hotel! When we come back from the Site today I'll tell yo all about it :) Love you

~ Tell Ryan I love him. I'm glad singing to him helped. I miss you guys!

I put my phone away and pulled my camera out and put it on around my neck.

We all grabbed Breakfast and grabbed a bus to the Site. The bus took about an hour to get there...

I got out with the group. I gasped.

Staring at us was The Great Sphinx of Giza! My breathe was taken away. The three great pyramids: The Pyramid of Giza, The Pyramid of Khufu, and The Pyramid Cheops.(Khafre)

I took a picture of the scene.

"Gang... Welcome to Egypt!" Doctor D shouted,

He guys, sorry it was a somewhat short chapter! I will try and make them longer!
