Reflections
i saw myself stood up in your blue eyes
and wondered how my frail frame held me so
i did not dissolve into liquid lights.
the water there was warm, our faces bright
in afternoon sun waning on us slow;
i saw myself stood up in your blue eyes.
you turned, stripping the sea to shallow lies;
though i, frozen, mooned after you, i know
i did not dissolve into liquid lights.
days fall to winter and i cannot fight
the dark from my sweet dreams i can't let go
(i saw myself stood up in your blue eyes}.
curled in sleep, i chased after the flight
of hope to someday when i'd stand and show
i did not dissolve into liquid lights.
come summer you smile at me and ignite
warm full fire between our lips. now i know
i saw myself in your blue eyes,
i did not dissolve into liquid lights.
a/n: a villanelle, the whole shebang (iambic pentameter and whatnot), because why not.
