That the hell is with people and Mars?

I understand the romantic feelings people have towards the red planet between the ideas of little green men, Transformers, and John Carter (although the Barsoom novels are much better). However if you use reason, humans one Mars is a ridiculous idea. The pipe dream of children who don't know anything about astronomy or space. There are so many problems with moving humans to Mars people overlook, like the movement of animals for one, cows freak out at the sound of cars backfiring just imagine blast off. Leaving the atmosphere with a herd of cows is fucking ridiculous. Let's not even get into the fact that we need gravity in order for our bodies to function properly and it's like fifteen months to Mars... like people are really going to work out hard core for fifteen months.

We need to get to the moon first, get the ISS working at full capacity and set up more inhabited satellites not to mention getting people over their hang ups about nuclear technology. One step at a time.
