Hiding
His breath sharp, hiding in the closet
He silently prayed
They'd go away
There were footsteps
Loud, urgent sounds
He wished nobody was around
He hit the wall
All goes silent
The boy, stiff as a trident
Before he could move, make a sound
The Nazis ripped open the door
He had his freedom no more
His name was Arthur, only 15 years of age
Not very old
Now very cold
He lived with thousands
Little food, murky water
All around him, manslaughter
On his final day
He went down in shame
Nothing was ever so vain
His cry for help rang thru the camp
His shout?
Died out
Arthur was gone
Killed instead
By a shot to the head
A lost voice, like so many others
A lost Jew
It could've been you
A dark time
Bloody memories stay
They will never go away
