Missing

I miss the long shadows

of yesterday's trees.

The frost of the wind

on my sweat chilled face

from a five AM run

I feel today.

I miss the little noises

my ears let in

after the silence of a siren.

I miss the explosive

anger, like a seltzer bottle

opened, and the torrid fury

of your eyes promising

a later make up

I won't forget.
